Imagine getting asked the “what’s going on between you two?” question, referring to you and a friend. I’m sure it’s not that hard, chances are you even got the question yourself once or twice. No biggie when something isn’t in fact going on, is it?
Now imagine something is going on, but the two of you choose for whatever reason to keep that private.
Imagine nothing is going on for real, but you do have some (hidden or unanswered) feelings you’re dealing with, maybe even struggling with.
Imagine nothing is going on for real, but you know the other one is struggling with the kind of feelings you can’t answer, yet you feel for them and care about their struggle.
Imagine something used to be going on and you’re working hard to get past that, to keep things good.
Imagine nothing is going on, but you know you’re not straight, yet also not ready or wanting to be out yet and/or you know the other one is dealing with this.
Imagine any of that, and then being asked that same question again. On video.
I’m not saying anything is or isn’t going on between (these) two people. I’m saying you never know, and unless people choose to talk about their private life unasked, it’s not up to anyone to ask any such questions with the chance of making them feel uncomfortable.
(I know this isn’t what most fans want to hear and people might find me annoying for ‘preaching’ like this, but I honestly care more about boundaries and respect for real life people than my (non-existing) popularity within a fandom. Enough is enough already.)
