Better late than never….

I unironically think this is one of the things that Vox gets from Alastor that he has never managed to replace or improve upon in the Vees' dynamic. Alastor finds Vox unironically and earnestly entertaining in all aspects. He never ends up just ‘humoring’ Vox’s rambling informational streaks because (a) they are usually pretty interesting and (b) Alastor has fairly wide ranging interests in general, he’s not stuck in a niche like Velvette or Valentino. And Velvette and Valentino will happily listen to Vox talk, but they’ll also roll their eyes about it and lose interest by the fifteenth minute

Alastor likes listening to Vox talk. And not in a "this is my friendly white noise machine" way; he has actually digested and internalized the information. He will randomly bring up a fact Vox told him seventy years ago in passing because he was paying attention.

I think Alastor likes the break it gives him. He’s a very performative person, but he doesn’t have to be if someone else is doing the performing. He is used to putting on a show when he's in public, literally and figuratively, and he's also used to being the one who usually provides entertainment. That was his lot in life and it's his habit in the afterlife. There's something comforting about being able to sit back and be the audience instead.
