They didn’t mean to bring attention to the sadness, but June was monumentally known for wearing their heart on their sleeve. The obvious was often hard to tuck away. It was perhaps the reason for most of their downfalls, this one included. They’d promise themselves quietly that the next time something like this would occur that they’d handle it much better. There were often some things they weren’t so lucky with. Though nothing could prepare them for Sullivan’s response.
Everything was by far worsened the moment Sully asked them about their feelings. June was the type of person to cry harder when someone asked what was wrong. The feelings of being a burden weighed heavily in that tiny heart long since before they’d ever met the other. They couldn’t help but to feel guilty for feeling sad, so when Sully asked, the guilt weighed even deeper causing a sudden breathless feeling. The close proximity between the two strengthened the emptiness June did feel. One day, it’d hopefully go away.
“ I’m okay… ” The low and uncharacteristic tone in their voice wasn’t meant to sound convincing. There was a quiet part inside of Minjun that swelled in temporary excitement in the hope that Sully did still care, or perhaps cared at all. It was stupid of them to even think it could be the case, but something in June wanted it to be so bad.
“ I think I just want to give you a hug… for your memories. Maybe it’s one you don’t have to reset for next time? I-if that’s okay with you? ”
Sully wanted to push, to ask why there was such a heavy sadness here. It occurred though that, maybe, just maybe this was another face that had been lost to him. Sully was sort of used to the sad haze that would wash over peoples features as they realized that once again, Sullivan wouldn’t remember a single thing about them. That all of that time had been wasted. He wondered if this was the case here. But he didn’t verbalize it, he just gave a stiff nod. “I... think a hug would be nice. Maybe it’ll be-- I don’t know, maybe... maybe like a hug for good luck, maybe I won't forget anything else after this.” He said, tone much brighter than what he was feeling at that moment. Long arms opened and carefully folded around the other, trying to keep it as casual as possible. How had they known each other? What had he lost this time?
