this whole fs season has made me an ilia centrist (used to be a bit of a hater i’m sorry 😞) bc the ISU really nailed it in that they’re just using him as the poster boy and i feel bad for him
and i loved when all three medallists at worlds basically said the new rule changes were shit like iktr
also getting into a little rant but can people PLEASE be normal about skaters and not act like the fucking paparazzi when they see them in public?? i saw that clip of people crowding him in the elevator and i felt so bad for him
all that being said i still hate the overscoring (albeit i more so blame the federations and the ISU for letting that happen) and i hope to see ilia’s skating skills improve (his galas have shown that it’s possible!!)

just more ideas + my ramblings/headcanons on how some of the s-tiers are in terms of skating :]
most technical - jumps (least -> most)
pete, jojo, hannah, purpled, fbm, fruit, fein // pete and jojo can be interchangeable but jojo is more consistent!
fein, fruit, and fbm basically have the same quads but fbm has the worst execution out of the three (not bad, just not up to fruit or fein)
all would have at least one quad in their sp—hannah + jojo also have difficult triple-triple combos on days they don’t do a quad—except pete simply because he doesn’t want to 😭
most technical - skating skills (least -> most)
fbm, purpled, hannah, jojo, fein, fruit, pete // pete and fruit can be interchangeable!
fbm and purpled are more aggressive skaters which can affect their quality of skating but certainly not their stage presence (they’re great performers :D)
i’d honestly say pete had the best skating skills and then fruit got better, but they’re pretty on par (fruit is better due to practice, but pete is good naturally!). fruit would have better transitions but pete definitely has deeper edges.
jojo and hannah are better at one foot skating and can usually get decent distance around a rink just from those!
best spins (least -> most):
fbm, purpled, fein, pete, hannah, fruit, jojo
fruit is flexible so he has good spins but jojo is more creative in her spin positions + her spins never really lose flow or speed!
main reason the others are lower is due to flexibility like i headcanon that their flexibility isn’t really there yet 😭 at least fein is trying and purpled would straight-up say his spins look ass lmao (he’s so rio-coded).
pete’s spins look nice but they’re more simpler and don’t have many variations!
stage presence (least -> most):
fein, fruit, purpled, pete*, fbm, hannah*, jojo
*if they mess up too many times they just give up—in polar opposite ways lmao; hannah panics and then pete just dgaf which both hurts their presentation but more so pete’s 😭 (he’s so pchiddy coded to me in that regard lmao)
jojo is so fun and whimsical and just a ray of sunshine!
fbm always has charisma!
fruit, fein, and purpled are too 😐 they’re just too locked in unfortunately 😔
for media day/press conferences:
fein would complain about event management and it’d become a whole controversy lmaoo (twitch rivals…i’m looking at you)
fruit would pull pranks on the other fbs during their interviews for the love of the game
purpled, jojo, and hannah are definitely the most behaved
pete is so evgenia-coded to me (+ pchiddy) bc wdym you’d be so candid you’d also say you felt like kys after a sub-par skate 😭—i’d say he was too polite at first and then it just devolves the longer he stays in mcc bc honestly me too i’d be tired as well lol ^^"
pete knows bait questions since he’s been there longest and it disappoints him every time one of the other s-tiers falls for it and makes a controversial statement (he’d be prepping them before conferences—whenever he’s on the podiums at least 😭)
i’d definitely say fein KNOWS that they’re bait questions, he just doesn’t care and gets his thoughts out anyways haha
fbm and purpled would have the worse attention spans ever 😭
for media day/press conferences (cont. except w/ some more headcanons):
pete def has some trauma/bad experiences w/ media (vikk come back 😭💔) in the past so ofc he’d know most of the stupid questions people ask him during conferences or interviews. he’d definitely miss conferences if he just doesn’t feel the need to go/doesn’t want to (sending heart attacks to HBG’s PR team lmao)

only 1.5 points away in PCs…ilia scores HIGHER IN PRESENTATION…
not to mention his 4F should been called q (and there was hella ice spray so…yeah) and instead it gets over 4 points in GOE kill me now 😭
yuma literally had the skate of the night and ilia performs a watered down program (still clean but he was def playing it safe it looked like) and still he scores hella high in PCs like what are we on about 😭
and i’m not even saying that ilia shouldn’t have won bc he should have just bc of his TES and BV but istg these judges are just setting him up it’s so baddd
i would like to see ilia improve but with him constantly getting 9s compared to skaters that have better skills than him/have put in the work just to be paid in dust it just sucks :(
like ik damn well he’d be improving if he got the scores he deserves but no his skating skills will be stagnant ig…

not to do more discourse but the accusation that the reason people tend to prefer the japanese skaters over the american skaters is because of fetishization is still bothering me because it fails to recognize that frankly japanese skaters have better funding and support and career lengths
japanese skaters get advertising money and japanese crowds are bigger and more dedicated and knowledgeable and show up en masse in person. there's just more money in skating in japan and it produces better overall skaters who stick around longer and don't have to crowdfund or coach part time to afford their training and travel and equipment

pvp-oriented = sp-oriented and movement-oriented = fs-oriented; literally every s-tier would have a high-scoring sp + fs except pete 😭 (just too low of a tech ceiling compared to everyone else for his short, but his free usually catapults his overall score back up; he doesn’t care enough to train more quads to fix it lmao)
hannah really gives amber glenn vibes to me (esp w/ her dress this year for her madonna sp it fits her soo well!)
fruit gives me yuma kagiyama vibes since they’re both always so fun and whimsical haha
i don’t know who would have the best artistry but i’d say pete would def be more well-rounded in terms of program components (skating skills + artistry + performance aspects) than the rest (he doesn’t need as much training as some of them to perform decent!)
