But first, a little context: During the 80s, Bamse and his wife, Brummelisa, had three children. In issue 9, 1985, of the Bamse comic book, these kids are talking to one of their friends who is proud to show off her newborn young sibling. One of Bamse’s kids, being somewhat jealous, tells the friend that they’re also going to have a new sibling. Word starts to get around, and eventually reaches Bamse and Brummelisa, who are, needless to say, both quite surprised. When they figure out how the rumor started, they don’t make a big deal out of it.

But then…

“In the evening, when the kids have gone to sleep, they sit for a while in front of the TV…”

“Then Brummelisa whispers something in Bamse’s ear.”

“And that night, they hug each other for a long time…”

And that’s where the comic ends. In future issues, Brummelisa is pregnant, and eventually gives birth to her fourth child.
