Brent Regner was recently called up to join the Florida Panthers to play his first, second and third NHL games. He's an extremely hardworking defenseman who leads by example and jumps in where he's needed. Growing up in the cattle industry in Alberta, Canada, Brent and his brother and sister cleared off ice ponds on their farm to play hockey. He credits his very special wife Jessica for helping him balance parenting with playing hockey. The couple have a gorgeous little boy named Barrett who turns one this spring. Regner says, "I love hockey and I love the game and I love farming so I’ll play hockey as long as I can and then hopefully I’ll get the farm." For now, he's adding some solid play to the blue line in the Panthers organization.

This is Lucy DeCoutere. She may be best known as the actor who plays Lucy in Trailer Park Boys. Lucy is also a Training Development Officer with the rank of Captain in the Royal Canadian Air Force. She trains pilots not to wuss out (or so I imagine). What I am saying is, Lucy is tons of fun, but she takes no shit from no man. Which is why Lucy came forward with her disturbing story of sexual assault at the hands of That Asshole at CBC Radio, and why, as his criminal case goes to trial, she is the only named of three accusers. Lucy is not about to be cowed by some stiff-gelled d-bag, his scary lawyer or…anyone, really. Lucy has a truth to tell, and the remarkable courage to tell it. She is fucking great.

And for my last post of the evening, I hosted Saco River Chronicles because I've always wondered what it would be like to host a show. I met a real nice lady who runs a free health clinic. She had strong opinions about government programs and didn't look down on folks who use state health care. In fact, she saw the benefits of getting someone on their feet firsthand. So that was inspirational and encouraging. So now I'm on Tumblr :)

And here's Episode III of the Vickie Show. I interviewed my friend Michelle Souliere at her used bookstore The Green Hand in downtown Portland. I mention my love of Stephen King a lot but it's mostly left over from my teenage bucket list. I'd also love to meet Wayne Gretzky. I have no idea what I'd say to either gentleman now. We'd probably just complain about how old we are now.

Then I made this video and learned to add captions for my friends in the Deaf community. I called it the Vickie Show (and the one about Maine Maple Sunday) because that's what my friends and people who don't like me would probably want me to call it. I can almost hear them nodding and saying "Well that's kind of what it's always been right?" I choose to hear those who support me and say it kindly instead of the haters. Life's too short.
