“I like to write like this. with sentences that do not finish in one line. sometimes with one word per line. I learned this from an ex lover. who used to respond to me just like this. each phrase, each sentence, each word, separated for sake of importance. I found that I would typically skim long paragraphs, searching for the important morsels, nothing more, nothing less. but with his banter, his responses, I read each and every word. And all that he said simply felt so important. long paragraphs are too intimidating. but when I write like this, it feels as if every word matters. it feels as if something matters”
