It starts with a scratch at the back of his throat.

Kageyama is in the middle of a text argument with Hinata about the logistics of serving (“do i really need to learn how to jump serve ???”) (“yes, dumbass”).

Hinata is adamant that he’s fine doing a regular overhand serve and even though Kageyama knows better, he isn’t up for the argument right now.

Harry nearly spits out his drink when he sees Draco walks into the ballroom. 

“What the fuck is he doing wearing that?” he hisses to Hermione who is currently busy balancing toddler Rose on her hip and sipping her wine. 

Hermione glances over her shoulder to where Draco has just walked passed and shrugs. “Honestly, Harry. It’s just clothing,” she says. Then adds, “Also can you please stop cursing around Rose? I know words are just words but come on Harry, have some decency.”

Harry grimaces. “Sorry, ‘Mione,” he says. “It’s just,” Harry glances back at where Draco is sitting in a sea of pink. “It should be illegal to look like that, that’s all.”

Summary: Harry and Draco find themselves spending the night together a year to the date Draco left him. Or the one where Draco and Harry figure out what they want most is each other.

Tonight marks the 6th anniversary since the war. Harry fixes the cuffs of his shirt while listening to Hermione’s speech on equal rights for witches. He’s standing on the sidelines of the slightly elevated stage in the elegant ballroom the ministry has rented out for the night. It’s the annual war anniversary gala which, over the years, has turned into an event where charity heads and philanthropists mingle. Like always, his speech is last, right after Hermione’s.

The crowd roars in applause and Harry climbs the elegant stars onto the stage. Hermione passes by him on her way off and she gives him a small hug and kiss on the cheek. “Good luck,” she whispers to him. Harry nods.

He takes center stage and scans the crowd. He knows what face he’s going to see but he can’t help himself. Sure enough, Draco Malfoy is sitting at the back left of the room looking bored. He’s drinking his wine while examining his fingernails, which Harry knows are freshly manicured. Harry takes a shaky breath and draws his eyes away from Draco but it's already too much. His heart is pounding in his chest and he feels light headed.

Harry peered out of his window onto the snowy streets of New York City. He and Draco Malfoy had been sharing a flat in Manhattan for the past two years before Draco decided to move back to Europe the past summer, leaving Harry behind. They had stumbled into each other the winter following the end of the war. They both had decided to move to the states, to New York City no less. Over a cup of coffee and a tour of the city, Draco had asked Harry if he had a roommate, and if not, would he be inclined to move in with him. Harry said yes immediately. He craved familiarity even if it was in his former rival.

Draco had left him 5 months ago. Harry had begged him to stay, not wanting to be alone in a big city. Though he had lived there for over 2 years, Harry still felt small in the vast area. Draco had begged him to move back to London. In July, Harry had not been ready. But now, he was.

Hermione and Ron left over an hour ago leaving Harry caught in a boring conversation with a pretty young witch.

Now, Harry is alone at the bar holding a glass with who-knows-what that he’s had who-knows-how-long. Draco and him have been sneaking around for almost a year. Running into each other at public places and ending up in someone’s bed. He had been waiting for Draco to stop talking with his colleagues before he approached him but now Draco is alone.

The room was dark and cold. Dan couldn’t see anything, not even his own hand in front of his face. There were screams in the distance that made Dan’s skin crawl. Whoever was making that noise was in pain.

Dan took a slow step forward. His barefoot sank into a pile of mud that hadn’t previously been there. He clenched his hands together and moved his other foot. He made steady progress forward until his toe hit a wall. He reached out with a shaking hand and grabbed a warm doorknob.

The door creaked as he twisted it. Immediately, the room was lit up in bright light, heat was emitting everywhere, and smoke overtook Dan. He squinted his eyes at the flames, taking everything in. He began coughing and waving his hand in front of his face in an attempt to get air. He brought his shirt collar above his nose and took shallow breaths.

His eyes focused to the scene. Across from the doorway he was in, a boy sat on the stairs. Fire was surrounding him. His head was in his hands and his small shoulders shook. Dan could tell he was crying.

Summary: Phil meets Dan's family for the first time. Things don't always go as planned.
