Smooth-Billed Ani This bird, not normally seen in the city, may have traveled south to escape the effects of the erupting volcano as these images were taken in Kingstown where a group of them were resting some 15 miles south of the erupting La Soufrière volcano on St Vincent and the Grenadines. The smooth-billed ani (Crotophaga ani) is a large near passerine bird (birds perching close to the ground) in the cuckoo family.
