The Fleet is going on hiatus for a while.

1. Fleet Nonprofit Status = Direction Change
We have decided to lay the nonprofit direction to rest and here's the story why! We tackled the process hoping to gain the ability to serve everyone best, but the complexities began to build up immediately. At the beginning, we learned that we could NOT become a nonprofit simply as the Fleet -- we had to serve ALL fandoms, with the Fleet being just one arm of the organization. We were inspired by this and worked for two years to build an organization that could handle the tremendously massive task. However, this spring, we had to do a reality check. People's hair was falling out. People were depressed. Major projects were being abandoned, and the team kept shrinking. Good, generous, hardworking people just couldn't give anymore. More than that, there was growing concern about possible copyright issues. We had some really hard conversations and agreed it was better to step back than step into trouble. We're sorry to relinquish this form of the vision, but it was becoming a toxic burden. So, onward!
2. What does the future look like for the Fleet?
The Fleet is not going away at this point. However, it will continue its current, quiet holding pattern so that we can recover from our exhausting nonprofit quest. It hurts us, but we won't be accepting new members. WE WANT YOU TO KNOW that you're Hunters whether the Fleet is roaring or sitting quietly -- and we want you to know that we still care about you.
We'll take time to remember that life can be good -- and see what the future holds. <3
