I FEEL THE SAME, IâM ON MY WAY â Fallison.
Allisonâs hands were holding on to the steering wheel, her body leaning forward a little. It felt like she needed the extra support. That would prove false as Finn cracked a joke as soon as he took a seat. Her head turned, looking at him in silence for a couple seconds, trying to figure out how to react and then the unexpected happenedâ she laughed. It wasnât forced, it was genuine and that was obvious by the smile she had. Her eyes had some small spark of joy in the midst of all her fear clouding them already.
âOh gosh,â Ally mused, her laughter dying down and her attention looking out the windshield. They sure didnât make guys the same in Vermont as they did in Ohio. She cleared her throat, taking a breath and trying to remember that she was wanting to talk to him. Really talk to him. She had been avoiding that with anyone in Lima, and now was the time it stopped, âI wish I wasnât about to disappoint you by saying kidnapping isnât on the agenda today.â
The girl licked her lips, her eyes now fixated on her hands gripping the wheel. Where was she suppose to start? The beginning of everything? What happened between her and Finn? Why she moved? Ally was slightly cursing her inability to plan a little better. It was too late to change that aspect about herself now
âFinnâŚâ Oh God, she started talking, what was she going to say next, âI wasnât avoiding you because I didnât want you to kiss me.â All right, that was a start. Albeit, a little random with no context, âI wasnât trying to avoid you at all, it just sort of⌠happens with me.â Again, no context but maybe it was the start she needed. Ally sighed, taking a breath in for courage, âI came over here to explain why I ran out. Or, well, why I moved here in the first place because it wasnât just for my dadâs job.â She dared to look at Finn, âIf you want to know, I mean.â
Finn could tell that the other girl was visibly nervous. As oblivious as he normally was he was definitely picking up on the energy. His first instinct was to apologize. If he had never been dumb enough to kiss her then maybe they would be inside watching Ninja Turtles and eating grilled cheese instead of hiding out in her car. Finn really didnât mean to throw Allison off by the gesture. It was honestly a case of him not being able to help himself. Â Finn really wanted to be able to tell the girl that himself, but he figured it could wait. Â There was a time and a place for everything, and right now he was letting Allison take the lead. Â
Then she continued talking, and he was getting the vibe that her reaction had less to do with him, and more to do with something much larger than their shared kiss. Normally his first instinct would be to sigh with relief, but that more than anything he was concerned. âItâs okay,â he encouraged as she tried to explain herself. âLook Ally⌠I donât want you to feel like you owe me an explanation. If anybody owes anybody anything itâs me. Both an apology and a grilled cheese sandwich,â he explained with a crooked smirk. Finn made sure to catch her gaze before he continued, âBut if you are feeling up to telling me about it I need you to know that Iâm all ears.â  He could put a lid on on his silly jokes, and open himself up to listen to the girl.  It was the very least he could do for her. Â
