Hal Jordan was going to be her death. Honestly, he was. And Carol knew that Felictiy knew that but it didn’t stop the woman from pacing the blonde’s office space. “What if we can’t find him?” That thought terrified the woman because she couldn’t lose him. He was her best pilot, she loved the man. But he had just disappeared one day after an explosion and hadn’t came back. She hadn’t heard from him in two weeks. “Felicity, I know that but I don’t…. Wait.” She stopped and looked at the woman. “What do you mean you’re working for the Arrow too? Since when?” Carol asked, tilting her head to the side for a moment but she knew that they wouldn’t stop until they found Hal and brought him home and she’d get to yell and scream at him. The woman ran a hand through her hair. 

“You’re seriously working for the Arrow?”

     felicity’s not surprised by her friend’s reaction, and all she’s hoping is that carol isn’t anti-vigilante.  “ well i wouldn’t say working for the arrow, as much as working with. i’d say he’s working for me but he’s really sensitive about his leadership role and he gets grumpy, but in all honesty, he wouldn’t have made it this far without me working behind the scenes. ”  she pauses, the depth of their relationship — their working relationship isn’t what’s important right now. hal needs to be brought home, no matter if oliver is going to help her or not. i mean, it’s carol. she had become more than a business partner, and she was worth throwing secret identities aside for.

     “ it’s been about two and a half years, i started six months after he did. right now, i need you to tell me everything you know about the explosion. ”

      he can’t help but smile as the crinkle becomes more pronounced, but he tries to, for her sake. clearing his throat, he nods in understanding, & crosses his arms back over his chest. as her fingers fly over the keys, his eyes move between them & the screen before her. he’s never seen anything like what she’s doing. in the movies, maybe, but not in real life. he’s a cop, not a systems analyst.

      his head is spinning, if he’s being honest. he hadn’t been expecting that. not at all. of course, he’d always thought felicity beautiful, but he’d never had any intention of acting on that thought. she was far younger than he, & she loathed him. at least, he thought she did.

      may she had, until a certain point. he wonders what had changed to change her mind so suddenly  .  .  .  was it sudden? or had it been a slow change with time? he has so many questions.

      but for now, he needs to respond, so that she doesn’t worry.  “ yeah  .  .  .  i’m just a bit surprised. i thought you hated me. what changed? ”

     felicity lets out the smallest laugh as she pulls away from him and slides her hands down her thighs, smoothing out the fabric of her skirt as she goes along.  “ oh, no, don’t get me wrong, i still find your character revolting. ”  she gives him a teasing grin before she continues.

     “ i’m still not really sure what or why or how this all happened — i guess it was a bunch of little things and all the realizations adding up in the months after that first kiss. ”  it’s a hard question to answer. she’s not entirely sure she’d call this love, but it’s more than a short-lived fling, that’s for sure.
