I am impressed with my self-directed practice overall as it allowed me to develop numerous skills and explore a range of experiments, materials and ideas. I believe that the final outcome, Progress (2015), is the highlight of the entire self-directed because it represents the theme that I developed on from expanded boundaries. In addition, it is a strong representation of the subjects that I used for my âPersonal Developmentâ theme within my practice. The self-directed aloud myself as an artist to develop a variety of skills including communication, use of digital technology within my practice and exploring a range of materials and objects that I would not have considered at the start. The glass was the surprise throughout my practice because I was astonished at the strength of the material while being deconstructed and reconstructed.
If I were to repeat my self-directed, I would explore a wider range of materials to investigate different possibilities. Glass is a particular material that I would have liked to progress with in my practice because of the possibilities as a material. Photography is another area that I would have liked to improve on because although my practice mainly revolved around three-dimensional art, I found potential within multiple primary photographs that I captured. I believe that photography is one of my specialist areas within art as a subject and in the future, I intend to present it strongly within my practice.
