this and also the only difference between fanfic writers and writers who sell their own original works as careers is that fanfics aren’t monetized. that’s all.

being a “professional” writer doesn’t mean your works are inherently better than fanfics. I’ve read so many fics that are more professionally written than some published books.

whether or not a piece of writing is monetized has nothing to do with its quality.

Me giving the side eye when I see so many people watching Sandokan and being into the weirdo drug addict Brooks... his thing with Marianne never came off as romantic to me. In fact, his obvious drug addiction immediately gave me the ick and I am confused as to why so many people seemed to be overlooking that and seeing his "pining" and "protectiveness" as romantic when in fact, it is drug fueled delusion and obsession. Why have I seen so few people comment on his addiction as an ick?

@heymusings I think some haters just like pathetic (half) white boys with mommy issues. There's this notion that female characters are supposed to 'save' male characters, regardless if they're not interested. I don't even consider Brooke a hot anti-hero/villain. He just comes off as a delusional stalker that would make Marianne's life as miserable as her mother's life was under her father's thumb. Lord Anthony Guillonk saying that James Brooke reminded him of himself as a young man was a huge red flag.

From what I can tell, most of the Brooke fans were lovers of gossip girl. IE, they aren't really interested in the love story so much as they are Ed Westwick (Little too much chest hair/belly hair for my taste, but okay.) The lot of them need to go off and write a self insertion... sorry I mean 'OC' fic where they 'change Brooke's mind'

Guys, I am going to try to start being more regular on here again. Summer has been busy for me and my job has been throwing me curveballs, quite literally. Hopefully things will start calming down soon. I think I have some stuff planned. So, keep looking on the horizon.
