“mm, okay. so you’re soft,” you say, smiling down at him and giving a rock of your hips that makes his eyes flutter shut and draws a groan from low in his chest. 

“not soft,” he refutes. his hand jerks at his side, like he’s resisting the urge to grab your hip, even though such a movement would leave him flat on his back. “maybe i’ve just got my fair share of scars.” 

at that, your smile morphs into something sadder, and you let up the pressure on his shoulders. kit is still smiling, but you’re suddenly having trouble reconciling this image of him with the version you picked up from briarcliff last year. in a lot of ways, he’s the same as he was before he was falsely accused, but the differences stick out like his ribs did upon his return home. the next roll of your hips is halfhearted. 

kit thrusts upwards, but he doesn’t have the leverage he needs to do anything but encourage you to pull harder on the reigns. “aw, c’mon, babydoll. i was joking.” 

“i know. i’m just thinking.” 

“penny for your thoughts?” two lines appear between his eyebrows, his irises darting back and forth over your face. 

“i just forget, sometimes, about what happened to you. you hide all of it so well,” you say, looking down at him. he’s illuminated in moonlight, skin pale but flush with life, his nose strong and high. he seems younger than his bravado suggests, and all at once you’re furious with yourself. 

kit swallows. takes a breath. “i’m strong, darlin’. don’t think i’m still that man.”

“‘course not. but it wouldn’t hurt to be gentle with you, would it, lovey?”

kit opens his mouth like he wants to argue, but his lips come to a soft close when you reach to cup his cheek, your fingers skimming lightly over his stubbled jaw. “okay.”

you rock your hips with more intent, leaning down to kiss his neck as he matches your movements. quickly, you rebuild the heat that diffused during your conversation, and you pant into his mouth, foreheads pressed together. 

“god, you feel good,” he groans. “i fucking love this pussy.” with some effort, he shifts his weight onto one hand, raising the other and palming at your tits. 

your hands move to his back, arms looping around his torso, and lift your abdomen a little bit, allowing kit to sit up more and change his center of gravity, allowing him to hug your shoulders and hide his face in your neck as he thrusts his hips up. 

you grab his thighs, feeling the muscles contract under your fingers as he fucks up into you. he still doesn’t have very much leverage at all, so you rise and fall with his thrusts, nose buried in his hair. he smells like the gas station and cologne and open sky. 

heat begins to coil in your lower belly once you and kit set a faster pace. “ah…ah, kit,” you breathe, closing your eyes.

his thumb brushes your cheek. “open your eyes, sweetheart,” he murmurs. “let me see you.”

with difficulty, your eyes flutter open, though they sag heavily at half-mast. through your eyelashes, you watch his face tense up as his thrusts stutter and his arms shake. 

you follow shortly after, the world going white for a few seconds. when your vision returns, your ears buzz until kit presses a kiss to the side of your face and pulls out of you, rolling both of you onto your backs. as the heat fades, you’re reminded of how uncomfortable folded-down seats are and of how cold it is in the car. 

kit rubs his hands over your upper arms and smiles against your collarbone. “you say you’re being gentle, but i swear you’re gonna kill me, babydoll,” he whispers, pulling you into the circle of his arms.

this was supposed to be not sappy but i always get caught up in the kit-post-briarcliff debacle lol

“Just admiring the view,” you shoot back, leaning back against the bathroom counter, not taking your eyes off his body. His build is kind of a miracle. Your gaze travels from his clavicle down his chest, then to his stomach, where a trail of sparse hair leads beneath the towel. 

Now. You wouldn’t describe yourself as having a particularly high libido, nor as being abnormally needy, but there’s just something about Cooper that makes you feel crazy. You want to climb him. 

He chuckles, moving to stand beside you in front of the mirror, bumping your hip with his playfully. You’re always grateful to catch glimpses of him like this in the moments between catastrophe that, due to his line of work, seem to be closing in on him more often than not. 

You rest your head on his shoulder, turning around so that you’re facing the same direction as him, watching as he carefully shaves the stubble that’s begun to percolate his jaw with well-practiced, fluid motions.

Once his face is smooth, he puts the razor away, and moves to leave, but instead spins around, hands moving beneath your thighs and hoisting you up onto the counter. He leans in, face close to yours, hair still damp. “If you get to ogle me, I think it’s only fair that I get to look at you, too.” With that, he tugs your shirt over your head. 

You let out a squeak and loop your arms around his neck. “Oh, of course. Only fair,” you tease.

Cooper’s lips skim your collarbone and neck, flying over your jaw and left ear, briefly lingering on your eyelid and cheek before landing on your mouth. He fumbles with the clasp on your bra for a second before getting it and flinging it over his shoulder comically, where it lands with your shirt in front of the shower.

You push the towel from his hips, and he pulls you closer until your legs come up, too, wrapping around his waist in place of the discarded towel. You giggle into the damp skin of his shoulder, scraping gently with your teeth. 

His fingertips dance up the delicate skin on your inner thigh, and you gasp when they move up the final few inches. Cooper is kind of infuriatingly good when it comes to this. You don’t even stand a chance. 

You shift your hips, chasing his movements. 

He tuts, joking. “So eager.”

“Mm, shut up,” you mumble, “and fuck me.”

Never one to keep you waiting for too long, Cooper lines himself up, exacerbating just how intense your desire has become over the course of just the past few minutes. When he leans down to check in, you pout a little, and he captures your lips in a kiss before pushing in. 

You moan into his mouth, and he echoes it, rolling his hips forward. One of his hands moves up, bracing himself against the mirror behind you and bracketing you in. You flick your tongue over the crook of his elbow, grinning when his arm gives way and he falls forward some five inches, forehead knocking into yours. Your glee is undercut, though, by the ensuing thrust, which makes your jaw drop open and your eyelids go heavy.  

“Oh…mm…”

The hand that was braced on the mirror moves again, and then it’s spread over your lower back, keeping you in place as Cooper ramps up the speed. 

With every roll of his hips, you see stars. Heat—real heat, not the fake, illusory warmth that collects in your fingertips whenever you see him—begins to pool in your lower stomach, drawing tighter. 

“Fuck, sweetheart,” he says, and swears in French—or maybe Italian? You’re no linguist—holding you closer. He smells like sweat and shampoo and you think he’ll probably want another shower after this. “Fuck. You close, baby?”

“Mhm,” you say, closing your eyes. “Jesus Christ,” comes after, when he finds a particular spot inside you and begins, for lack of a better word, exploiting it. 

He comes before you, but barely breaks pace, stuttering for a half-second before continuing hammering into you like a man on a mission, which you suppose he is. You follow a moment later, thighs shaking as you go limp in his arms. 

Cooper peppers kisses along your hairline, stroking up and down your bare back with his big hands. 

Once you’ve both recovered, he pulls back, a small smile tugging at his lips. “Shit. We’re dirty.” 

You raise an eyebrow. 

His smile breaks wider, and his eyes light up. He pulls out, and you grimace, then laces his fingers with yours, tugging you toward the shower. 

You laugh and follow him easily.
