Grace: *teacher mode* well first I know where everything is. And second there is a tiny bit of light from the sensor box LEDs and that starmap in the biodome ceiling. Its not good vision, mainly very granulated black and white interpretations because my rods and cones are not getting enoughs simulation. But even a teeny bit of light is enough to see shapes. I'm only blind in absolute total darkness. But if that were the case its possible I could learn to echolocate. Maybe. Humans have taught themselves that in the past.

Later:

Scientist: what do you mean humans can teach themselves to echolocate. They dont even have the right sensorium.

Rocky: thats what Grace said. And wikipedia confirms it.

I actually do think we should discourage women from becoming housewives. Do not become financially dependent on a man. That's how a lot of women ended up dead over the years. A man gets violent suddenly and you have to choose between homelessness or potentially dying at his hand because you have an enormous gap in your resume and no degrees or certifications or anything that will help you pursue a career that will allow you to be financially independent. He owns your bank account. His name is probably the one on the car. Try and leave and he can report it stolen. Where will you go then?

this summer i recommend shower wipes or body wipes to people who struggle with hygiene due to disability, mental or physical. yes i know it produces unnecessary waste. yes there’s the argument of “if you buy the wipes then you’ll never shower,” but chances are most people who are struggling would Not Have Showered with or without access to wipes. i know it isnt a full shower but wiping yourself down can make a big difference in how you feel!!

along these lines you can think about buying mouthwash and getting any kind of friction at all on your teeth when it’s too hard to brush fully, dry shampoo if it’ll help keep your hair less oily when washing your hair is overwhelming, etc. you deserve easier ways to care for yourself and feel clean. also remember you are not a failure for struggling with hygiene even if society tells you otherwise!

i really thought the point of "being lgbt+ doesn't absolve you of racism as a white person" was that white people arent absolved of racism by being marginalized but it really seems like people think other marginalizations make it okay. no being disabled doesn't do it. no being poor doesnt do it. we need to fight against racism actively no matter what.
