i would love to introduce my basically diary! ˖ ⁺ (a girlblog essentially . . interests and fandoms : aviation! I am a huge aviation nerd, my favorite planes currently are the T-38, the a-10 warthog and Cessnas :) also the big birds like the c-130, as well as helicopters but I love any and all aviation, I find it super fascinating and I have a private pilots license!! Aviation history and the mechanics behind them are some of the coolest things to me. I also dabble in a bit of the iron lung and in space with mariplier fandoms, red dead redemption ( both games!) older call of duty games ( I have played the newer campaigns but I’m not a huge fan of them and I tend to interact with more of the older games media) top gun and top gun Maverick ( occasionally! I go in phases of being in and out of the fandom) The walking dead ( show and games!! I miss the walking dead games) dredge, Star Trek and Star Wars, tlou, life is strange, band of brothers, masters of the air, generation kill, ( if you can’t tell, I’m also a huge history nerd!) warrior cats ( and old interest, I haven’t read anything past the book where fire star dies and I am old and out of touch but I do like the fandom and occasionally revisit for nostalgia) no I’m not a human, the Raven cycle, the hunger games ( more so the books but I do love the films too) hollowknight and Silksong, save the princess ( such a good game i HIGHLY recommend)

I don’t know if top gear counts as a fandom but I love that show and I wish it had an actual fandom.

fav topics : philosophy, psychology, mental health, fandom discussions, debate ( yes politics included, I love debating political philosophy and ideals, I do not consider myself a liberal or a democrat, and while I won’t get too heavy handed with ideals in this post, fair warning I do consider myself to be a left leaning person, and that I firmly believe both republican and democratic parties are one of the same coin, and neither are good, or “better” or “more politically righteous and correct” than the other . They are politicians and politicians are corrupt, trumps Republican Party is vile and disgusting but I personally do not believe that absolves the Democratic Party and administration form any wrong doing either, and that our two party system is a sham, both sides are just as bad as each other and both are corrupt and horrible and the American administration is terrible and disgusting and despicable and we’ve never really had a president or administration that truly cared about its people for a very long time. 👍 I try to avoid political talks here and prefer to it I am talking philosophy with someone to have it private but fair warning I am in the military, that does not mean I support trump or that i support how the current administration uses the military, if that upsets you then you do not have to interact with me, but please do not feel the need to harass or insult or badger me about my political ideals simply because I am in the military without formally asking me what my takes on the military are, I am more than happy to talk about my time in service, what I think of the military, how it’s service members get treated, how it is used and such if you ask and as long as you respectful to me and are not making incredibly uneducated assumptions :)

I enlisted when biden was still in office in 2023, and unfortunately got stuck with my contract with trump’s administration, if I’d have been able to break my contract before trump was president I’d have done it, but unfortunately I can’t read polls with mind reading powers and I still have about three years of my six year contract to go, so rest assured no I do not agree with anything the military is currently doing or with any of trumps ideals

I don’t have any formal dni for this page as I tend to usually just block people if I for some reason don’t want them interacting with me, but I do tend to avoid interacting with people under 21 simply because I’m 25 and it makes me feel a bit odd to be interacting with people five to six years younger than me, but that is to say I’m not going to hound you if you are and stumble across my page lol, I just occasionally post some tmi things and on the rare occasion reblog mature content and I don’t want to be like pushing that to minors feeds if that makes sense! I honestly don’t care if minors interact with my page I just try to avoid it in fandom spaces or when talking personal things because again it just makes me feel odd that’s all

I love interacting with anyone whether we’ve been mutuals since I joined tumblr or we just Imooted today :) tmi does not exist in my vocab or really any of my posts, don’t feel shy to interact with me at all, I will literally talk with anyone.

Fun facts maybe??

— I have two pets, a German shepherd named copper who lives with me currently and a very fat orange cat back home named tater :) ( pictures provided below) you may occasionally see photos of them on my blog, I have a motorcycle, which is probably the worst financial decision I have ever made in my entire life because where I’m currently stationed it rains a fuck ton and I have to drive that to work every day sopping wet, and im half creek/ half Cherokee and half Puerto Rican from my moms side :) unfortunately, she never got to teach me Spanish so for any Spanish speaking moots I will save you the horror of trying to read my very bad Spanglish.

These are hard, I can’t really think of too many fun facts about myself, I use to beg my mom to let me get one of those mermaid tails as a kid and then got very upset when she told me people drowned in them so no I could not be a mermaid for my twelfth birthday, and I did comparative swimming all throughout highschool and middle school

I use to be a civilian emt before I enlisted in the army, and I enlisted for my paramedic license and the gi bills after service, as I can’t afford college without putting myself into massive debt with loans and I couldn’t afford my courses for my paramedic classes because it was WILDLY expensive for two years of classes and there was no way I could afford that, now I have my paramedic and it will carry over to civilian life after my contract is up, and I plan to continue as a paramedic once I get out :)!! First responders get all the love around here from me 🩵and if anyone who is also in the first responder or medical community on here needs a shoulder to talk to please feel free to dm me anytime, i understand how difficult this line of work is and I’d much rather talk to a stranger that’s struggling than know our community has lost someone to the bad points in this career

Your fans love seeing their favorite characters and scrimbos hurt, that’s literally what whump writers live for

You can have extremely impactful story and cinematic moments of a character being injured in a realistic way and suffering from that injury, in fact I’d argue it’s MORE impactful to see them affected by something instead of them just being superhuman and end up fine with no issues or complications whatsoever, I think it’s mushx more immersing and easier to get attached to a character you’ve watched struggle and suffer and be on deaths doorstep and you’ve watched handle the aftermath of an injury than it is to see a cheap cop out of them being totally fine in the end scenes of a movie

It takes like no time at all to do research on medical jargon, procedures and injuries instead of just throwing a character off a two story building and saying they walked it off with only some scrapes or they have a collapsed lung that causes them no issues and doesn’t have the threat of hypoxia or having them tank multiple bullets to places with ligaments, nerves, and having no nerve issues, getting shot isn’t just a walk it off situation, even a a shot to a shoulder can cause lasting nerve issues, there are SOO many nerves and ligaments in your shoulders, and ligaments don’t heal over night. If they heal at all depending on how badly a ligament is torn, you could have permanent soft issue and muscle damage and weakness.

You’re the first person I’ve come across on here that actively talks about a career in the military and I was hoping you could give me some pointers if you’re comfortable with it!

You said that your paramedic will carry over into civilian life after service, but I’m just wondering is there any costs to get it if you join service? I’m not hard stuck on any certain branch at the moment but I am considering army because that’s the most prominent branch in my area,

How would you say the day to day life is?

Is there any studying I should do pre enlisting?

I’m a queer black person and I’ve been worried about discrimination as well, have you had any personal issues with that in the past?

Hi! Please do not feel like I would be uncomfortable answering this, I really appreciate you reaching out to ask this, I’m vocal about my career in the military because I think people should absolutely know how their military works, how things are, what it is actually like, and to sort of break up the stigma and stereotypes that go on about the military because it unintentionally does harm the service members that ARE in the demographic of being queer or POC, misinformation and uneducated takes form the general public absolutely harm these services members and their own community and it’s important to me that people know this, because I see it a lot. It’s very sad, especially when it’s your own community making claims that harm you.

And I think the general public should be aware of how their military works, how things are and what it is like, I do not think things should be as classified as they are. Everyone, in any country deserves the right to know how their military works, and especially how the service members get treated because we get treated like absolute garbage.

My sincere apologies this will be a very long post because I have a lot of opinions on this matter.

If you want my honest opinion on enlisting?

Don’t.

Especially not under this current administration and while we are in an active conflict with another country. The administration current and past does not and has not cared about its service members. And it probably never will. Service members have always been treated like shit, they will use its service members however they see fit to do whatever they like, and then will continue to treat them like shit when they come home because the mass majority of the public also does not aid support to its service members because they are just uneducated on the matter or knowingly turn a blind eye to it because they believe the military is inherently evil and that service members get what they “deserve” for enlisting, and the administration knows this, and will use that to it’s advantage to treat service members like crap when they come home because they know that the general public is not going to object to it, when they are deployed, peace time or not.

I will not ever recommend anyone join the military, especially with our current administration but even with a different administration with the diaper wearing fool out of office I still wouldn’t recommend it because I do not believe any politician or administration has its service members and people, the general public in its best interests and never will. Republican or democratic our government and administration is a sham, and it will never have its peoples best interest in mind, they will say whatever they want to appease the public to get into office. That is all.

I feel for you as someone who has been in that circumstance before, I joined the military to use it’s benefits and system to my advantage because I also was not in the place to afford things and I am so sorry you are in that place, no one should ever be in a position that they can’t afford further education, or the necessary means to get credentials for their career path, or have to put themselves in mounds of debt just to get by, taking out loans to afford college or education, or have to give up things that make quality of life better just to afford to have a career. It’s a very shitty situation. I’m deeply sorry you have to go through that and my heart goes out to you and to anyone else that has been in a situation like that.

I would still never recommend the military to anyone.

If there is any possible way, and i understand it it is not doable, to wait until we have a slightly less psychotic person in charge, or at the very least are out of an active conflict with another country, please please wait to enlist if that is still your only option.

If that is not doable please at least wait until we are out of this ridiculous situation of middle eastern conflict that we have no business involving ourselves in, do not ever enlist during an active conflict era or campaign because it significantly increases your chances of being deployed, overseas especially, having your contrast extended, and loosing your ability to choose your MOS and duty station because it active conflicts they will prioritize the needs of the military and they will put you wherever your needed. You do not want to be in that situation. And especially now, you don’t want to be in my situation where I enlisted during a different administration, and then got stuck during trumps administration when he took office because my contract wasn’t up and I can’t break it.

To answer your question,

One : yes they do, but not every skill you will learn is transferable. If you go the 68 whiskey route, you will get your basic emt license, and if you go my current route as a flight paramedic you will get your paramedic license through the army’s critical care course and take the IBSC flight paramedic test. These are transferable, I do not know about other services and how transferable their things are, so this only goes for the army as far as I’m aware, but please take this with caution, while your license will carry over as long as you keep it up to date and recertify, ( as I do, I’ve hit my two year mark and now I have to recertify my paramedic) but that does not mean you will immediately get hired by a civilian medical service, you have experience with trauma if you go military medic, but that will not mean you have the experience they are looking for for regular calls, your licensing will carry over but that does not mean your experience will, and some places may not hire you even with prior military medic records on your resume just because you will be inexperienced in general ems. So please keep that in mind,

Two. : yes you should always study! Extra studying cannot hurt. You will take the nremt and you will have classes and courses to prepare you for it, so you won’t just be a fish floundering on the ground do not worry, but you should always take any opportunity you can to learn something new and to further your knowledge. Medicine and medical practice is a constantly evolving and changing field, you should always keep up to date with things and study as much information as you can :)

Three : my day to day life is pretty hectic and will look different than a new boot because I’m an Nco at the sergeant e-5 level, so I have leadership duties outside of my actual MOS, I have junior medics under my command that I am responsible for. There’s alot more paperwork than people would ever imagine in the military lol. A lot of constantly checking equipment, a constant lack of batteries because our supply officer consistently fails to supply us with ( pogs man. They never do anything right.) alot of trainings in the field and in aircraft, and just daily chores. Military is not shooting guns all day, a lot of the time you’ll be spending your time doing the dumbest paperwork imaginable or random duties someone tells you to do. Especially as you go up the chain of command, the more time you spend at a desk actually.

Four : discrimination, I will say this lightly because I don’t want to sound like an old head or crass, but there are always going to be bigoted, nasty, hateful people wherever you go, regardless of your job, where you live, Ect, it’s unfortunately the way the world is. The military is no different. It is no different than any other job in the world, you will come across people who are nasty just to be nasty, you will meet people who will dislike you just because of who you are, and you will also meet people who have basic human respect and dignity for people around them.

I have met people who are extremely bigoted in base and I have also met an astounding amount of people who will quite literally shove a hand down someone’s throat for saying something remotely offensive to or at me. I would not say that it is worse in the military than anywhere else. I think is actually extremely uneducated and harmful to say that the military is inherently worse and full of nasty bigoted people who are raging trump supporters and love guns evt ect because it isn’t true. 90 percent of the people in my unit do not support the current administration, and I’ve met people on base who are republicans who also have extreme distaste for trump. The military is not full of raging trump supporters who like war and want to kill people, and it’s an extremely uneducated take that the general public has and spreads around because they refuse to see anything as other than black and white and they refuse to be open minded and educate themselves on how things actually are and the complexities of things because it does not fit their narrative of ideals.

There are plenty of gay people in the military. There are plenty of POC in the military. Making these claims actively harms your own communities in service, and it’s extremely sad to see communities treating their own people thwarted way they do because they are in the military. It’s the same way that people from Northern America look down on queer people in the south. But that’s a completely different topic and I don’t think anyone wants to hear my opinions on classism and how queer people get treated in the south by their own community.

What I’m trying to say is, you will face discrimination because that’s how the world is, it doesn’t matter if your in the military or you work in a grocery store there is always going to be a hateful person and sometimes you just have to move on because here is no changing some people and some people are just stubborn and like to be hateful.

In fact, my previous staff sergeant njp’d a guy from my previous unit and smoked him relentlessly because he made a racist remark.

Not everyone in the military is a raging asshole so please if you are not someone in the military please consider educating yourself and stop trying to box things into a strict black and white situation because that is not how the world is. I’m sorry if that’s rude or crass. Being an uneducated left leaning person is just as bad and different sides of the same coin as being an uneducated right leaning person.

Now back to enlisting, I will stand on my firm decision to not join the military especially the active duty side of things. If you are going to join any service join the airforce you will be treated significantly better than you will in the army and you will get better benefits, or my personal recommendation if you are hardest on enlisting the national guard or reserves. It’s the best kept secret. The national guard is in my opinion the best opportunity to actually help people and your community because yes you are military but you also serve your state. If a natural disaster like a wildfire or a hurricane or anything like that happens you will deploy to directly help your people, you will be helping your state in humanitarian crisis, in cases of mass power outages ect. If you really want to help people the national guard is probably the best branch you can join to actually directly support your community. The benifits are better in the national guard and reserves, you stay close to home, you get to pick your station and 90 percent of the time your MOS, and you can have a civilian life on top of that, you can have a second job, you can, if you have the money to do so go to college while serving, and overall it’s a better quality of life than active duty and had I known the guard benefits and that the guard was an option i probably would’ve went guard but I was a wee little 20 something idiot and went active duty like an absolute clown. 💀

Be mindful that recruiters will probably tell you the guard does not deploy as much as the active duty does however and that is a massive lie. The guard will deploy and has deployed just as often if not more than active duty. But you do not move around as much as active duty and if staying close to home and family and friends it’s important to you, the guard allows you to stay in your home state.

My best peices of advice are, do your research, do not rely on recruiters, they are literally paid to lie to you and make the military as appealing as possible. It’s their job. This ain’t me hating on them because there are plenty of good recruiters out there that don’t do this but there are alot of them that will lie and play in your face about things to. It’s their job.

If you really want to know an inside scope on what military life is like, please ask current active service members and past service members, as you did with me, reach out to others you may know because they will not lie to you, and they will tell you it sucks, it’s ass, and I can bet 80 to 90 percent of them are going to tell you a hard NO do not join the fucking military.

Do your own research as well, into the MOS you want, the programs ect.

I don’t tag a lot of my posts just because I like to keep my blog small lol, I don’t really like my posts getting a lot of traction 😭 I post too much things on here and I mostly treat this blog like a MySpace diary, it’s like my little space tucked in to the smallest part of the internet:)

And hmm that’s a really good question, I think, fandom etiquette has really gone downhill with some of the younger generations as compared to when I was a teenager in the 2014s and such, but that’s not to say that fandom etiquette was BETTER back then, we’ve all been 15 or 14 or 12 years old with unrestricted internet access before,

I think my biggest gripe is how some people act within fandom spaces, and this isn’t a new thing, this has always been a thing I just see it more often recently. I’ve seen a lot of shipping discourse, people who post about a ship they like and then the comments bring up a different ship that they think is better that is completely unrelated the the original post, people who shove ships down others throats ect, and a lot of, I don’t know how to put it, rudeness maybe? Fandom spaces have always had toxic people and that will probably never change, but I think one thing I would say is

For writers, just because someone doesn’t agree with an interpretation of a character you have, or a characterization, or a headcanon doesn’t mean your writing is bad, or that your characterization is wrong, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and interpretations, you are just as entitled to your characterization and headcanons as someone else is to disagree with it or have their own interpretation as well,

And for readers or people in fandom spaces, just because you don’t agree with someone’s characterization or headcanons or interpretations doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy or support their works, you don’t necessarily have to agree with an authors choice of characterization to enjoy their work or fanart ect, enjoy the work as it is, art and something being created, you don’t have to agree with things to support someone’s work of fiction! Enjoy the creativity and the fandom creating things! It’s okay to not agree with something it’s not okay to put someone’s work down or say it’s “bad” writing or characterization because it doesn’t line up with your ideas
