Gift Without a Bow | Jack & Jill

So, the holidays were rolling around.
They used to be so much fun. Jill would look back on past years with a heart filled with warmth and nostalgia, but now there was the added pang of grief. Her dad was gone, and her relationship with her mom was strained at best. At least Jack and Agate and Bob were all here… but the holidays as an adult were never really the same. They were so loaded, now.
[SMS] to “Jack 💖”: Are you up for gingerbread houses from scratch? I miss you :c
Maybe baking cookies would help bring some holiday cheer into her system.
•。 ♡ [SMS] to “Jill 💖”: yeah, of course! be there in a minute, sis :)
Be as it may that the magic of the holidays had been lost for him for quite some time now, but no matter how scarce it was, it remained alive thanks to his sister. He always remembered fondly of the celebrations they had together with their family, albeit reminiscing upon them was not without a tinge of sadness; nevertheless, perhaps some things could go back to the way they were. Imperfectly so, but still, a possibility in the wake of his thoughts.
He bangs his fist on the wall shared with Jill to indicate that he is coming over - locking his apartment door and walking in hers.

It was funny, they lived right there but did they see each other very often? Nooo! The bang on her wall made her roll her eyes, but at least it was a decent warning. Jill made a beeline to her front door - unlocking it right as Jack swung the thing open.

“Only if you’re up for one!” She poked and prodded at her brother as he walked in. “Long time no see, dork.”
