‘big evil guy talks’. delightful. a literal child has been sent his way, and the hand of the king isn’t sure if he feels more offended by his presence there, or the idea that people thought that kid would have been the best decision.
he just lets him talk. because in all honesty, him trying to make the small giant feel bad about his words is the most fun thing to do. if for ‘fun’ we consider anything that won’t make him die of boredom. and there it follows, after the first insults, an even more delightful ‘sounds kinda sorta stupid to me!! ‘.
« so that’s why they told you, i understand. » he replies - annoyed, yes, but with pure calm and phlegm in the voice. « stupid is someone who believes what people say without investigations, i believe, but as long as you’re happy. »
one hand rests on the side, almost mirroring the kid.
« of course they didn’t tell you that they came here to get to the treasure i watch over. » he continues. « it’s way easier for them to cry and point their pathetic finger against me. i understand, it’s not the first time. »
he looks at his symmetrical lance, beating it gently on the leg. oh, if he wants to use it. not because he hates the kid, he just wants to use it. he’s eager for a good fight. he misses them.
« so. are you going to bore me with other complaints, or will you go away, since you don’t want to fight? »
“Nope, I have some work to do, here!”
All the fears seem gone, but the fact that the guy kept glancing at his weapon forced Ray to stay on the spot more than once.
It wouldn’t be the first time he dealt with someone so big, in case he decided he was done talking and attacked, but if they could actually kept it down it would’ve been way better.
From his hips, his arms move up to his chest, crossed as he thought of the right words.
“I’ve come here because of what I’ve been told, yep... but I learned to take the Council’s uhhh--”
“...words with a grain of salt.
You said we don’t have the full story, right?
Well, I’m here to listen to your side, then. Sometimes a hero can to play the peacemaker without throwing hands, you know?”
