Been waiting a while year to do this post! I was trying to get my method perfect to show others. Alright. I make a plotting section with a template of mine. The template can be found on @theresourcedhunt right here
This template includes character information, locations, & then a break down of each chapter scene by scene. I cross it off as it gets done. Anytime I learn something new about the character, a location, etc then a note goes into the section for me to see later.
Then I write chapters! The format style for each chapter has a template as well. The template can be found here. These resources are on my rph resource blog. Anyways, I write the chapter in & like to keep dates going in there just to make it easier to follow along since I'm a very timeline-type writer. I think having the chapters together is easier than separately. I have tried to keep them separate before & have not been a fan of that method.
Then each project gets a folder. In case I want to break up the notes & the chapter writing. I also make a fake calendar for every project that I do, which includes everyone's birthdays in there. Major events. Etc. I will put out a template for that someday soon.
With that, I also track my word count for the year, so I put any fanfic writing I do in the section labeled fanfiction. If I was doing more than one project at a time, I'd also make a spreadsheet to see how many words, chapters, characters, etc were in my fanfiction to see the breakdowns between stories. I feel like that would give me a great idea of my skill set & information about me as a writer.
Then I post to ao3. I am thinking about not posting a story until I have five chapters done so I can post consistently for a while, but I am not sure. Pretty much every story I do gets a sneak peek posted on @insidetheheadcanons these days, because every story I post is also connected to my roleplay blogs.
Anyways, this is the end of my post for this, but I will also point out if you need resources like a calendar doc, another style for a chapter layout, etc. Then reach out to me! I have my resource blog open almost at all times, so feel free to message @theresourcedhunt for things!
