According to bikers who stumbled into this rift in timespace, there are extraterrestrial aliens who only wish to race for fun and prizes. However, losing to these aliens will get you evaporated quicker than a tear on a summer's day.

Try to outsmart the aliens by hugging corners as you race, and do not touch their hovercraft; lest you risk being killed by alien lasers while exchanging your information. They have good insurance; they just care more about racing.
