My last client of 2018 🌻• • My beautiful curlfriend, Samone, came to see me for her 1st curly haircut after years of having her hair straightened then cut. This week has been full of #transitioninghair beauties in my chair 🌻• • Dione came in ready to get her curls back on track to become healthy again. Her fine textured hair was suffering from heat damage which left her ends extremely compromised. She thought that her curls were all the way gone, but with cutting the damaged hair & creating a bomb shape for her, along with giving her hair maximum hydration with her hair session with me, we found her curls! This is an oldie but goodie post about how important hydration 💦 is for one’s curls 🌻• • Swipe to see all of my curlfriend, Shanta, & her processes with me 🌻✂️• Curlfriends 🌀🌻 what would y’all like to see on my page in the new year? • • • W A T E R 💦....• • Along with using water soluble products is the key to moisture in the hair, not ingredients like heavy oils & butters #justsaynotococonutoil 👀• • • You see how the water that I’m putting on my client Shanta’s hair is literally just rolling right on off of her hair strands?• • That my curlfriends is the result of extreme buildup of using products with too much oils, butters, or silicones, & replacing your shampoo all together with just a co-wash instead of a surfactant based cleanser is 👏🏽 NOT 👏🏽 giving 👏🏽 your 👏🏽 curls 👏🏽 life. It’s wreaking havoc more than you know • • Oil & water don’t mix, right? So think about what those heavy ingredients & buildup will do to the hair over time 🤔• • • Your hair strands will repel water! Yes yes y’all, your hair will be like when you try to clean broccoli. Yes, you read that right, broccoli 🥦 The water will roll right on off making it hard for you to get any water on your veggies, or in this case, your hair & your scalp 😯• • The heavy ingredients are causing your hair & scalp to suffocate, thus turning your hair into an even more dry palette, your hair is more prone to breakage, & your hair follicles are being blocked which doesn’t promote a healthy scalp for optimal hair growth • • • Water & incorporating water soluble products will help to get your curls popping. That along with going to a professional stylist to help you figure out these key things 🔑• • • Texture, density, porosity, water quality in your area, & the climate of where you live • • • • Last thing, remember that curly hair, no matter the type, texture, etc is naturally dry.
