Sometimes I feel as though I’ve gone too far in the other direction to ever feel delicate again–until I am open so wide, anything can get in and I feel overwhelmed by the amount of [other] ruminating inside of me.

1.) Yelling at your children as soon as you get home from work 2.) Giving the silent treatment to the entire room/family when you're upset 3.) Waking your children up with aggression or loud noises

Things I am begging parents to stop doing as a trauma therapist:

1.) Treating siblings so differently that there is a clear favourite (specifically sons) 2.) Saying "I guess I'm just the worst mom then" when your kids share they're hurt 3.) Refusing to apologize because "you're the parent" and therefore "don't have too"

Things I am begging parents to stop doing as a trauma therapist, part 3:

1.) Expecting the whole household to walk on eggshells when you're in a bad mood 2.) Not protecting your children from the other parent when that parent did something legitimately wrong or harmful 3.) Depending on them for emotional support in the way you would w/ a partner
