it actually makes me mad how much effort is invisible. you see the 1% that I poop after 99% of relentlessly pushing in the privacy of my own head. Sometimes relentlessly pushing means I am completely stuck thinking about something and trying to distract myself from the fact. It's effort too. It's not the right effort, but it's effort. It's just not the effort one is usually congratulated for. So it's embarrassing to talk about it. Despite how much I now know it's not "lazy" or not entirely "my fault". It's the brain, it's just shit 99% of the time. So yeah you don't talk about this because it's embarrassing and you don't want it to be this way. "omg congratulations! You studied SO HARD and got a good grade" no maam. I did not study hard. I wish I had. I couldnt. I instead did nothing, panicked, tried, failed, tried, felt like shit because my match couldn't ignite the pyre, and at the very last second managed to summon lightning. And got a good grade. Sometimes just an ok grade.
