Hello! New friends!

So I love the daycare attendant, I love Sun and Moon so much. I consume constant fanfic all day because I love it. There are so many amazing fanfics out there to experience! Which makes it a little sad that so many recommendation lists are the exact same.

Solar Lunacy, Twins and Lofi, Copper Cogs. Maybe some Don’t Spare Your Gaze. The same few fics every time.

Don’t get me wrong, they’re great fics. If you were making a list of the best fics in the fandom, all those would be right on the first page. But why is that ALL we see recommended? While those few are amazing (and you should definitely read them all if you haven’t), they’re far from the only great fics out there.

That’s why I made this blog. I want to highlight some of the other fics out there- Everything from the top quality popular fics that just don’t make it onto recommendation lists to the little niche fics that will make you smile.

Hopefully this blog can show you some fun fanfics you haven’t seen before, or can be an easy resource to link to when someone asks you “Do you have any recommendations?”

Followers here might notice that I haven't been able to keep up with this blog. It turns out that this format just isn't compatible with my executive dysfunction. Some day maybe I'll be able to make a normal list rec for my main blog (shirajellyfish), but for now I'm sorry to say that this rec list will be going away. It's unlikely there will be further posts, and at some point this blog will likely be deleted.

Today's fic is a really special treat. One of those fics that you stumble across only to realize you've found something far beyond your expectations, Ghost in the machine !

What it's about: You've been tasked by your uncle to repair and restore an old Daycare Attendant animatronic. At his house you find several other Daycare Attendant models already living there, each with distinct personalities and mysteries.

What it's about: Your aunt thinks you're too lonely and orders you a pleasure bot. You want to return it right away, but change your mind when you see that this robot is a sentient being. You can't just return a sentient being like you would a faulty TV, after all.

Why you should read it: Despite the premise, this fic is surprisingly wholesome. Lots of friendship, conversations, and wholesome board game type situations. The Y/N here is extremely well written. They have good intentions, valuing Sun's comfort and consent, but don't always get everything right. Every chapter is absolutely jam packed with great content, a roller coaster of both calm moments and action every time.

What it’s about: You’ve gotten a job at the Pizzaplex, but there isn’t much to do considering it’s not open yet. When you end up in Parts and Service by accident, you find out why...

Hello friends! Looks like we’ve gotten some new followers lately, welcome welcome! I know many are busy with school this time of year, so how about a oneshot? That way if you’re busy, you can read on a break before getting right back to it! Today’s fic is You Will Be a Monument to My name.

What it’s about: Your goal is to build two murder robots to bring about the end of humanity. Unfortunately, you seem to have accidentally left out the murder part.

A new fanfic! And it’s REALLY GOOD! Rejoice! Today’s fic is Like Clockwork.

What it’s about: You decide to sneak into an old section of the Fazbear theme park, closed decades ago, to stream the process of exploring it. You find that the old animatronics are still there, gathering dust.

Why you should read it: You like fics where the robots are actually robotic? Then you’re going to love this one! This fic has by far the most robotic feeling animatronics of any I’ve seen in the DCA fandom. The writing quality is stellar, the difference between the more advanced modern animatronics and the older outdated ones is apparent in every line. Despite being limited in what they can do, there is still the sense that these animatronics are alive under all the pre-programmed responses.

Welcome back to fanfic time! Today’s fic is So You Wanna Smooch A Robot!

What it’s about: When a fire forces Sun from the daycare in the middle of the night, the first place he thinks to go after is your house.

Why you should read it: This fic is packed with a ton of content. It has a high word count and a ton of great scenes, the characters getting to tackle all sorts of obstacles and locations over the course of the fic. The relationship between Sun and Moon and Y/N is incredibly sweet, and develops in a very satisfying way as the fic goes on. With everything from small domestic moments to big plot action sequences, this fic has a ton of variety for everyone.

It’s Wednesday and today’s fic is Call of the Abyss!

What it’s about: You crashland on a water planet. This is no place for a gardener like you. You aren’t entirely alone though- in both good and bad ways.

Why you should read it: This is another fic with incredibly high writing skill behind it. You’ll love every moment and every description, no matter what’s going on. This fic is often very much an adventure and chock full of sweet moments, but it can also have some truly unsettling horror- probably the spookiest stuff I’ve seen from any fic in this fandom. This fic is so strong that it will make you feel attached to Helpy, of all characters. And of course, what’s not to love when you have a good mer AU?

Today’s fanfic is Ventura Highway!

What it’s about: It’s time to steal the robot jester. You are not waiting. You are stealing the robot right now, and the two of you are going on a road trip in an RV with a COOL WIZARD painted on the side.

Time for another week of fic recs! Today is one that has been on my recommendation list for a long time now- Weal and Woe!

What it’s about: You obtain a magic item that allows you contact with the Fools of Fate- Sun, Moon, and the incredibly powerful but incredibly dangerous Eclipse.

Why you should read it: This fic has a lot of heart to it. Come for a magical adventure, stay for incredibly emotional scenes about the characters helping each other heal from grief. And then jump up and down in excitement, because even with all the heartfelt emotional scenes we still get fun magic! Speaking of the magic- This fic manages to capture that wonder and awe of magic in a way many published authors struggle to achieve.

This is a busy time of year, so I wasn’t going to recommend anything this month. But then I found Sunspots, Craters and Mortal Things and I HAD to make some noise about it.

What it’s about: Sun and Moon are suddenly overwhelmed with big changes in their lives. They’ve been given extensive upgrades, a new upcoming acrobatics show, and a new handler all at once! As difficult as it is to balance all this at once, if they don’t get it right they’re at risk of being reset entirely.

Why you should read it: I am in love with this fic. This is the kind of fic you start reading and just go “Ahhh, here it is, the good stuff!” The writer is very skilled and puts their wide vocabulary to excellent use without getting too flowery. Even if you’ve read a million DCA fanfics, the way this one is written will make it all feel brand new again. This is also a rare Sun and Moon POV fic, meaning we get to see everything from their perspectives! Sun, Moon, and their new handler are all written in detailed and nuanced ways and I fell in love with all of them right away. This fic is an absolute joy to read, and has immediately become one of my new top favorites.

Sunday Special- the recently completed Lost and Found.

What it’s about: Sun has been waiting for the Superstar Daycare to re-open. He has been waiting a long, long time. That’s where you come in.

Why you should read it: This fic starts out by absolutely crushing your heart. It’s one of those that’s almost too sad to bear at first, but that just makes it all the more exciting when things slowly bit by bit improve. This fic will break your heart into little pieces and then put them back together with glitter glue.

You made it to Saturday! For today’s fic, we have Bug Love!

What it’s about: Sun and Moon are something akin to nature spirits. They’ve lost most of their power, and have only barely avoided fading away entirely. Then you show up, and all of a sudden someone believes in them again.

Why you should read it: This fic is super unique, and I love everything it does. This writer always has really cool fun ideas, and this fic has to be my favorite of all the cool stuff they’ve come up with. It’s a very sweet fic, and we get to see Sun and Moon grow stronger again as Y/N comes to believe in them more and more.

Friday is the slowest day of the week an AO3, so I’ll take this opportunity to recommend a fic a bit bigger than I normally do- (it was, in reality, not fine.)

What it’s about: You’re a tech at the Pizzaplex. Your job is to split the dual AI daycare attendant animatronic into two bodies.
