CeIplice Śląskie-Zdrój  is a beautiful spa town situated in South West Poland.  The spa dates back to the 14th century, the area was then part of Germany and named  ‘Bad Warmbrunn’. The boarder was redefined at the end of II World War and proceeded to become part of Jelenia Gora township in 1976.  The area is surrounded by the Krkonoše mountain range which runs along the the Polish - Czech boarder, which is also a popular for ski resorts in the winter seasons and wonderful for walking in the summer. Cipelice is home to the Palace of Count Schaffgotsch, the grounds of which are now a beautiful public park.

The house where we will be staying is situated in the heart of Cieplice next to a small river. The building was originally an out building to a larger house of an artisan shoemaker, although this main house is now uninhabitable.

The house belongs to the Polish sculptor Ryszard Zajac who grew up in the Jeleina Gora area. The house was previously occupied by his mother painted there, the walls are adorned with her paintings.
