The greatest threat to our wellbeing and the future of our planet right now is greed. The billionaires, the oligarchy, and the self-serving politicians that have taken root into this beautiful Earth are sucking it dry.
Yes, it is true that climate has always fluctuated. There will always be variables that cause varying levels of methane and carbon monoxide. There will always be periods of global warming and global cooling.
But get this. The Earth will survive. The Gaia Hypothesis suggests that the Earth has an internal thermometer. It will regulate itself. It survived the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum. It survived the Last Glacial Maximum.
But humanity will not survive the next major climate swing. We are in an unprecedented low summer insolation lag. It's predicted that hyman influence has delayed the next cooling period by 50,000 years.
This planet is only getting hotter and it is all because of the greed of powerful men and women who are willing to exploit the planet and it's resources. We are the first organisms who have been able to create our own culture. It has been incredibly valuable, but it is finite. And we have chosen to reduce that time again and again.
While we are here, it is our responsibility to be kind to one another. We must kiss eachother on the cheek. We must hold hands. We must write poetry and make music. We must take advantage of our sentience.
Most importantly, we must admire the Earth, as it is with Her permission that we are here.
This Earth is for all of us. Start acting like it.
