not my usual but since ppl keep asking i’ll make a psa cause it is something im into kinda
1. main rule for nutrition n life is the 80/20 rule: 80% of your time with diet and workout etc u stay locked in, the other 20% enjoy whatever u want or be lazy while maintaining be happy and healthy. like 5.5/7days stay on top of it bc if u just do whatever u want all the time ur gonna get too lazy and depressed (and yes the only way to be sure is to kinda track it which is hard at first but gets easier)
2. calories in=calories out.. period. yes it’s hard, yes it matters if the ones u r eating actually have nutrients in them or not.. but its math..and physics so.. its real. it’s hard bc our lives, stress levels, environment temperature, workouts, sleep, etc are never exact but your food can be and if ur not in a ballpark of 100-200 calories of ur maintenance every day it will make a difference.
3. being active is non-negotiable. if u want a muscle group to improve then work it out. and u better sweat and raise ur heart rate with whatever activity you’re doing and if you get to 10 reps of something no problem u need to make it harder. also physics/biology. if you want to lose fat/weight - keep your calories under maintenance
4. it’s a lifestyle change if you wanna keep it or improve. find stuff you like. if u r trying to do stuff u hate it’s not gonna last. but at the same time discipline is important so find the balance where the discipline is consistently doing it and feeling good from it.. not doing it and hating every second of it.
too many people think there’s a trick to this sht. study biology and physics and chemistry. ur cells are little factories they do not have a mind of their own and they just take in what u give them and put out whatever your body is asking for. not expending energy = stored as fat, pushing heavy weights or running around and playing games = burn the calories and build more muscle fibers. its unfortunately/fortunately that simple.
that’s it.
here’s my grocery list cause i’m poor but focus on being healthy as possible still:
lean ground beef, chicken, eggs, egg whites, 2% greek yogurt, 1.5% cottage cheese, oats, carrots, bell peppers, spinach, edamame, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, walnuts, almonds, avocado/olive oil, maple syrup and spices so things don’t taste like sht.
oh and the 10% rule.. 10g protein/100 cal. if ur not hitting that it’s mostly not worth eating. just a guideline tho. i’m probably at 100-150g protein a day and 1400-1800 cal/day.. but i should start eating more maybe i been training a lot and its summer.
ppl joke im autistic cause everything in my life has to serve a function i don’t just do things bc i feel like it. so kinda goes hand in hand w what i put in my body ig.
