Ecstasy is as powerful as it is slight - steady, yet turbulent. Transient, but bold. Ecstasy is moving, then static. It enlightens and heightens, building, only to rest. It stills, only to rouse. In the most intimate of ways, ecstasy tries the thrust of violence, but sends the somnolent seduction of violins.

a thin silence

empty of deprecation

cellophane

stick and stem.

having flown

to the recesses

within her mind

a great blue heron

pinned to the reflection

of a sanguine sky

To stand and sketch

the petite peonies peering out

a preciously-put shop window,

or to positively paint

their severed stems

en plein air, and all that.

Happiness can be hard to find.

because a flame is nimble,

the poised light of a blue moon.
