It never does, does it? Except that a part of Thomas is starting to believe that oftentimes, the hoping part is the part that hurts the most. Once youâve lost all hope, youâve got nothing left to tire over. But as long as you do hope, disappointment and reality wait around every corner.
Still, he appreciates her attempt to ease some of the tension from his shoulders and tries to show so by curling his lips into a small smile. Itâs not even half of what the one on her lips is and part of him feels just the tiniest bit ashamed of having so little to offer in front of such a bright girl. But the bigger part of himself is just glad that sheâll probably be taking care of most of the smiling and talking. Heâs never been too fond of being a lot of anything. Pale no matter what shade heâs wearing and he likes it like that.
