Summary:

Anakin looks back at him, eyes flickering down to his lips. “Why do you always look at me like that?”

“Like what?” Obi-Wan asks breathlessly.

“Like you can’t believe it’s really me. Like you’ve seen a ghost and you’re trying to make sense of it.” Anakin muses. “You did it when we first met and you’re doing it now.”

Obi-Wan tilts his head, because the truth is he has seen a ghost because there’s no way Anakin Skywalker could still be alive. But here he is. Alive and happy and Obi-Wan overwhelmed with the need to hold him and never let got.

But it isn’t Anakin.

At least not his Anakin.

Because for all that they look like each other and act like each other, he isn’t the Anakin he had known.

“You remind me of someone,” Obi-Wan says softly, brushing a stray curl back, mesmerized by how bright his eyes are. “Someone that I used to know a long time ago.”

(Or: Obi-Wan is in love with every version of Anakin and always has been. And this time isn’t any different. The thing is that all gifts come at a price and the force, despite what some may believe, isn’t a belessing.)

in this case the two of them play with each other while Obi watches on the side...
