Death weekend (My History) Part 1
I drove to her city to see her; she told me to routinely check my heart rate and write it down (she would then take my vital signs once we were together)
As soon as I got in the motorbike, my heart rate was 124, and halfway there I got a message from her and it instantly jumped to 151. As I was getting closer, I could feel my heart pounding, and as soon as I parked, I checked my heart rate againā172āand I hadnāt even seen her yet (it made me feel small and like she could control my heart at will).
We agreed to grab a drink and, if things went well, go to her place. I was arriving at the spot where weād agreed to meet. I greeted her, and she wanted to give me a tight, long hug. She whispered, āIf your heart is already beating like that and youāve only just met me, I donāt know if youāll be up to what I have in mind.ā She hadnāt even finished the sentence before she was already grabbing my wrist to see what number was showing on my old smartwatch.
ā186 beats per minute,ā she told me, and didnāt say another word until we reached the bar. I donāt know if it was a psychological game to make me even more nervous and manipulate my heart without even touching meāI was aware of it, but I couldnāt do anything to stop it.
I want to emphasize that English is not my native language, and if there are any errors in telling the story, they are the translatorās fault.
We got to the bar and sat down. When the waiter came over, he didnāt let me order what I wanted; he beat me to it and said, āA beer and a Coke.ā As you can imagine, the Coke was for me. I asked him why heād done that, and he replied that the caffeine in the Coke would really show me who I am.Ā
I felt strong palpitations again, but I didnāt say anything to her, because I knew deep down that she knew, and even though I wanted to give myself to her, I didnāt want to do it so quickly...
(She didn't know that I'm very sensitive to stimulants like caffeine, nor was she aware of my cardiac history, which I haven't revealed yet.)
We talked for a while (Iām going to skip over the personal topics we discussed)
And just as I finished my Coke, she asked me what my heart rate was. I told her 154, and she said, āWeāve been sitting here for a whileāit shouldnāt be that high. You clearly have a weak heart, though Iām sure Iāve contributed to it being that way.ā I replied in a shaky voice, something like, āOh, really?ā and right after that the waiter walked by and said, āAnother Coke, please.ā (That's when I realized I'd be his puppet until he got tired of me.)
To be continued⦠(I hope Iāll have time to sort out exactly what happened)
