the fear of sharing your work not because you're worried people will hate it or mock it or think it's terrible...but instead that it will elicit nothing from them. that it will be unremarkable. that it won't matter to anyone but you
I really gotta play more minecraft with people who like building stuff. I'm almost done digging out my 64Ć64 block hole in my minecraft world and when my fiance asked me what I'm gonna build in there when I'm done my brain fucking bluescreened like what do you mean build something?? I dug the hole!! Building is for smart people with good ideas!! I just dig!!
the other thing abt being obsessed w wikipedia is that the moment i close the tab the information flies out of my head. but for a brief moment in time i am educated
went to the cop slide and got yelled at by a cop

i think everyone needs to adopt "i didnt say it was good, i said i liked it" into their vocabulary right now. it did me wonders
"i want to show my friends the media i enjoy but its not considered good so i wont" is such a bad thought process. i once made my friends watch my favourite childhood movie with me which has a 1% rating on rotten tomatoes and i cackled with glee as they groaned in agony for an hour and a half. but yknow what? thats what friends are for.
When I was working as a literary critic, being able to say "I hated it, it's brilliant" AND "It's horrible, I adored it" was an essential part of the job!
Sometimes, that meant going to bat to publish horrendously written, hideously self-indulgent books because every single page made me laugh (happily, not meanly) and I simply had to recommend them to everyone with the disclaimer "they're awful, you'll have the best time of your life reading them."
Sometimes that meant looking at myself in the mirror and going "Dear author, I am not your target audience, but by God I will champion your book because it is a marvel of its genre."
And that's okay. We don't want to only have technically perfect things, we want creation that makes people feel. And we don't necessarily want artistic works that speak to everyone because, often, that means that they truly speak to no one at all.
So... I guess that what I'm saying is: write. Draw. Make movies. Do anything creative that strikes your fancy, because being bad doesn't mean your creation won't have a lasting effect on someone, and being great doesn't mean everyone will like what you did, but whatever the results, you'll have made something.
And if you love a work, no matter its quality, then share it, loudly, unabashedly! Because the human experience isn't about perfection, it's about connection, and there's no shame in sharing your happiness.
GOD I FUCKING;LOVE. CHARACTERS
i see this resonated with a lot of you
July 25, 2023 - Striking stuntman Mike Massa walks in the SAG-AFTRA picket line while on fire. [video]
So, so, so badass.Ā What a chillingly powerful message this sends.Ā People have been lighting themselves on fire as a form of protest for centuries, but this might be the first time itās been done by a professional who knows what heās doing while under the supervision of professionals who know what theyāre doing.
not as an act of self-destruction but as a display of skill
I'm in awe
Someone in an autism facebook group I'm in just asked "How am I supposed to earn enough to make a living without burning out?"
Someone replied: "You're not. Even neurotypicals can't right now in the system designed for them. We're the canaries in the coalmine. When we start failing, they know something is wrong."
People keep saying, "Oh, everyone thinks they're neurodivergent now!" or they'll say it's the foods or chemicals or whatever other nonsense they've fallen for, but to me the answer is so obvious?
We've gotten to a point that more and more people are being left behind by the system, making it so that neurodivergent parents who could get by fine *enough* in decades/centuries past are bringing children into a world that cannot and will not attempt to accommodate them. There's nothing in the water and people aren't faking, it's just that this is no longer sustainable or livable and of course people with disabilities will be hit first and hit the hardest. There aren't more people with it, it's just harder to go through life without being aware that you're not functioning the way your peers seem to be able to.
Guys gals non binary pals I tried so fuckin hard to find this and finally here it is

2011: haha!!! iām so addicted to tumblr!!! IāM NEVER GOING TO LEAVE!
2014: i want to leave but i cantā¦. why did i take that vow to never leaveā¦.. how do i get out of this eternal hellā¦
will never forget when i worked in a fast food joint. some customer wrote like ā86 cherriesā on their mobile order, as like a pretentious way of say no cherries, but the store was run by a bunch of high schoolers who are working their first job so they collectively went āwhy the fuck does this guy want 86 fucking cherriesā and like piled them onto his milkshake
so when i made this i didnāt expect ANY notes so i feel like an asshole now for not explaining. so incase you check the notes, 86 in restaurant terms means āunavailable or out of stockā but has kinda morphed into āomitā or āleave outā. but none of us had worked in a restaurant before, also why would you not just say āno cherriesā itās the same amount of characters to type
Man ordering food: I work in the restaurant business ;)
Children working at restaurant: this guy must really like cherries. Got something in your eye there sir

ok this is a poignant visual metaphor tho
this image made me quit my job.
I remember the first time I saw it, i stared at it for several minutes until I finally just started crying. It made me resolve to leave, and I turned in my resignation about a month later.
This is your reminder that if life keeps throwing you lemons you are not morally obligated to make lemonade from them. You can duck, or catch them in a trash can, or get a baseball bat and slam those fuckers into the stratosphere.
ChatGPT is running out of money because they haven't actually figured out how to make money with the plagiarism engine they created.

I donāt have a dick but I do think with it
If you are driving and someone blinks their brights at you there's a good chance it is a warning for something like, say, a deer playing chicken with cars and that you should probably slow to a crawl lest you get a fuzzy new hood ornament.
Alternatively, you could flip off the person who tried to warn you, have to violently swerve to avoid that deer, and then wait for the person you flipped off to come pull you out of the ditch you ended up in because there isn't even the fancy new iPhone SOS service where you're at because it's so far into the back country.
I'll let you all figure out what happened with the dude I tried to warn this weekend. :)
If someone flashes their high beams at you in the USA it is almost universally understood as 'there is shit ahead to watch out for'. That shit could be animals in the road, an accident, a speed trap/cop or some other hazard. Keep that in mind when you're out and about!
