Seems like 2018 just started yesterday isn’t? I started my 2018 depressed and sad and it never got better throughout the year, towards the end, i found myself just coping with it.
But whether you’ve reached your finish line fresh or rattled, whether it is ending victorious or so exhausted that you may wheeze out your actual soul, 2018 now comes to a close! And i hope we all learned.
Here are my 18 Things from 2018:
1. FORGIVENESS IS A GIFT YOU GIVE TO YOURSELF. It gets easier the more you do it. And it’s not a favor you give to someone, it’s a favor for yourself.
2. GOD’S TIMING IS ALWAYS PERFECT. Cliche as it may sound but this should always be my ultimate reminder. For most, New Year means new hope or another chance to make things right, but as for me, New Year brings the most anxiety in me. Growing older means so much about being more responsible and legit about being an adult. With friends getting married, having their babies at this age, being successful in their chosen careers, it is inevitable not to feel envious and worried about your own situation. But God is watching and he’s up to make everyone’s life beautiful in his own timing. And. I need. To believe more in that.
3. LET SOME THINGS GO Do not waste your time and energy on people who doesn’t really care about you; and on things you still can breathe even without.
4. SOMETIMES ANGER IS A SIGNAL THAT A PERSON IS IN DEEP PAIN Pay attention. Everyone is struggling on battles we know nothing about.
5. MOST OF THE TIME, THE ONES WHO LOVE YOU WILL TELL YOU THE MOST HURTFUL WORDS. These are the things that we need to hear the most.
6. NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT YOU Stop stressing yourself about the things or people that doesn’t concern you directly. Loosen up!
7. You don’t need to kill your demons just make sure you don’t forget that your angels are stronger than them
8. PLAY YOUR ENEMY’S GAME. You know yourself (i hope you do), when deciding on what action to do, always think about how the other party will react to it. Think about how they will play their game. Adjust when it’s a must.
9. SOME FRIENDS ARE MEANT TO BE EJECTED Being the problematic case that i am, and being melodramatic since forever, this has always been my mantra
“Hard Times will always Reveal True Friends” It’s easy to define who are the real ones when you are left with nothing and when you are at your worst self.
10. SAY SORRY WHEN YOU ARE. Pride is expensive; relationships and peace of mind are priceless. Don’t get confused.
11. FAMILY SHOULD BE YOUR TOP PRIORITY Love your parents and always make them feel needed and respected.
12. COMMUNICATION IS A GAME CHANGER. Communicate to understand and not to reply. Listen wholeheartedly and then raise your point.
13. EVERYTHING COMES TO AN END. Pain, struggle, worry, uncertainty, sleepless nights. All. Nothing is forever.
14. YOU CANNOT AVOID EVIL PEOPLE AROUND. People aren’t always who do you think they are. You are so guarded, you have trust issues, you are cautious and is alert all the time, but still, there will always be these people who will hold your trust and mind hostage. Who will break you. Again. And you will be left with nothing. You cannot avoid them, perhaps just pray for them and let God do the rest.
15. SAVE UP Your now adult self will thank you later.
16. FOCUS ON YOUR HEALTH. Yeah, health is wealth they say but it’s more than that, health is life, it’s a sustainable thread and bond with yourself and the people you love and those who loves you.
17. GIVE MORE. LOVE MORE.<\b> There is a huge return when you give more; patience, love, honesty, understanding, forgiveness and care about other people. It pays to be extra kind.
18. LOVE THY SELF A LITTLE MORE.
This year, I’m not gonna claim that 2019 is mine, instead, I’ll pray not to have all the good things, but all the things i need to grow and all the things that will help me give more love to others.
Happy New Year Dolls! Cheers!
Tata,
Ar-Ey🎀
