Welcome to my blog!
I'm a junior studying biology at a public university in a small (small to me) Midwestern town. I have a minor in agronomy, and I'm currently interested in going to graduate school to become a research biologist. I'd like to specialize in sustainable agriculture and write environmental journalism. From what I've seen, agriculture is not a commonly discussed subject on Tumblr, and even frequently not discussed in popular political media or amongst the general population.
I'd like to change that.
As someone who's worked at a community farm in the past, I came to realize the value of farming and food, not just as a means for survival but as a way to form community and support the environment. It's important our agriculture supports the environment because the environment supports our agriculture! This might seem like an obvious statement. However, sustainability is missing from much of modern agriculture, especially the industrial side of it.
This is my primary interest as a scientist: to support people through improving our food systems, and make sure the Earth isn't harmed in the process. I'd like to use social media as a way to spread this philosophy and hope! I believe that accessible and equitable education is the best way to improve the world, which is where my studyblr comes in.
I believe we should all study to make the Earth a better place and strive to make education accessible to everyone.
I also write creatively. You can read my short stories on my cardd
