Howlies, Assemble! If you were looking for the rules and schedule for Stucky Bingo, you’re in the right place!

Rules:

OUR NUMBER ONE RULE: BE RESPECTFUL!

Our aim is for this bingo to be as inclusive as possible, and we will not tolerate participants disrespecting one another. Discrimination and hate speech are not acceptable under any circumstances, and anyone found to be acting in this way will be banned from this and all future rounds of the bingo.

Now, the other rules:

You can cross off one square per fill (artwork, single chapter, crochet project, poem, fanvid, etc). Fill requirements are as follows:

Fic and poetry: 300 words, unless you are specifically writing a drabble (exactly 100 words on ao3) Art: 300x300 pixels if digital, 3”x3” if traditional Moodboards: five images (+ optional blurb) Playlist: eight songs + cover art Rec lists: three fanworks + reasons why you’re reccing them Podfic: ten minutes + clear permission from the author for you to use it for the bingo Translations: the work it’s a translation of must fit the fic minimum requirements, whether new or pre-existing + clear permission from the author for you to use it for the bingo Fanvids: 30 seconds All other fanworks (gifsets, crafts, edits, manips, anything else you can think of): as long as you think it’s complete and/or the best you can do right now, it counts

Works must be shared for the first time during the time the bingo is running – no dusting off something you posted last year and calling it a fill.

You can crosspost with any other event in existence as long as 1) the other event is also okay with crossposting and 2) you meet the minimum requirements for ALL events the work is for added together (eg 300 words for us + the minimum word count for event A + the minimum art requirement for event B).

You can collaborate on a bingo entry, as long as each collaborator meets the minimum requirements (if you have two co-writers your work must be a minimum of 600 words, two co-writers and a digital artist must write at least 600 words and have a piece of art at least 300x300 pixels, five co-writers must produce a minimum of 1.5k, etc). Your collaborator does not have to be a bingo participant, but each participant can use the collab to cross off a square.

The relationship between Steve and Bucky should be a significant feature of your bingo fills, but the nature of that relationship is up to you.

We welcome polyships as long as Steve and Bucky are in the ship. AllCaps, WWIIIsome, stuckony, Steve/Bucky/Reader – whatever your jam, it’s welcome here!

Interpret squares as literally or as figuratively as you like. If a word has more than one definition, you can choose between them. I’ve heard of “the end” being taken to mean a character’s rear end, “alpha/beta/omega” being a frat house, and “body sharing” filled with a fic about pregnancy, so as long as you think it fits the prompt, it fits the prompt!

TAG RESPONSIBLY – we won’t police the content you create for this bingo, but we do expect you to tag for any content that might cause readers distress. If you’re on the line about tagging for something, please err on the side of caution.

You can post your fill to our AO3 Collection StuckyBingo. You can also post here on tumblr by using the tag #stuckybingo and tagging us @stuckybingo. Any work created for the event will be reblogged and shared from AO3 (make sure your settings allow it).

As of June 2021, you must complete the fill submission form for every fill you make. If you don’t fill out the form, your fill will not be counted!

Schedule:

SIGN-UPS OPEN - 25th July 2021

First round of cards will be sent out September 1st and we will continue to send out the rest as sign-ups come in  - if it’s been more than a week since you filled out the sign up form, please let us know! If it is less than a week since you signed up and you received the confirmation email when you filled in the form, please be patient. We have got your sign up, you haven’t been forgotten, and you’ll get your card as soon as we have time to create it. You can ask us when you’ll get it if you really want to, but the mods cannot guarantee you’ll get a politer answer than “look at the rules, it very clearly says it could take up to a week. Ask us again then!”

You will get two weeks after the date your card was sent to request square changes, if there’s something on your card you know you can’t work with. You can request up to ten square changes.

What’s a bingo?

In fandom, a bingo an event where you get a card divided into 25 squares. 24 of these are prompts and the last one is a Free Space to use as you wish!

You cross off a square by creating a fanwork based on the prompt. Squares can be interpreted however you want!

If a square says “Skinny Steve,” you can do something about Steve before he got the serum, or post-serum Steve remembering what it was like back in the 40s, or an AU in which Steve never got the serum, or a no-power AU with skinny Steve, or…

What type of prompts can I expect?

You can select any or all of the following categories for your card:

AUs

Marvel specific prompts (eg vibranium, skinny Steve, super-serum…)

Fluff prompts

Angst prompts

Characters

Quotes

Places/locations

NSFW prompts

If you have specific things you know you want/don’t want, there are places in the sign up form to tell us this.

I signed up, but I haven’t got my card yet. When can I expect it?

It could take up to a week for you to get your card. I know this seems like a long time when you’re waiting for it, but unfortunately we both also have real lives and other responsibilities to deal with. We will send you your card as soon as we can, so please don’t chase us about it unless it’s been more than a week.

Can I combine multiple squares into one work?

That’s a no. One fanwork = one square crossed off.

The exception to this rule is multi-chapter fics, where you can use each chapter to fill a different square.

Can I use a work for another event to cross off a bingo square?

Yes! We love crossposting, and you are absolutely allowed to do it, just as long as:

The other event is okay with it as well - not everyone is.

Your fill meets the minimum requirements for all events you’re using it for - eg 300 words for us, 300 for Tony Stark Bingo, 250 for Star Spangled Bingo = a minimum of 850 words.

Can I repost old fics?

Nope, sorry: anything posted for this event needs to be shiny and new.

Do I have to fill all my squares?

You can make as many or as few fills as you want. Whether it’s one, five, ten, or the whole card, that’s awesome! There is zero pressure here.

Okay, but what if I do fill all my squares?

First up, great job!! Massive kudos to you!!!

If you blackout your first card but want to keep creating, you can request a second card! Just fill out the sign up form again, let us know that you’re requesting a second card, and we’ll get it sent out to you ASAP!

Blackout a second card too? Ask for a third one!

What do I get for making fills?

At the moment, we plan on having badges for participation (filling one square), bingo (five squares in a line - horizontal, vertical or diagonal - or all four corners and the centre square) and blackout (all twenty-five squares). Maybe some other badges too, if we have time and inspiration as to what they could be for…

What can I create for this event?

You can create almost anything you want to. The minimum requirements for each work are here:

Can I write in another language?

Absolutely!! Whether it’s because you want to try writing in a language you’ve been learning or because English isn’t your first language, we welcome non-English works.

Can I collaborate with someone else?

Yes! If you want to create with a friend (or acquaintance or arch-enemy, though we probably recommend against that one), you should feel free!

And if your collaborator is participating in the bingo as well, they can also use the collab to cross off a square.

There is one caveat to this: each collaborator has to meet the minimum requirements (your fic has to be at least 600 words if there’s two authors collabing, 900 if there’s three, etc)

Where do I post my fills?

We have a collection on ao3 (stuckybingo), or you can post on tumblr.

If you post here on tumblr, please tag us @stuckybingo.

We’ll share all works we know about here on tumblr, but the only way we know about them is if you fill out the fill submission form!

My question isn’t answered here! What do I do?

Since sign-ups start in just a couple of days, we decided to make a detailed list for newbies and any participants to hopefully straighten everything out and make your participation as pleasant as possible.

The most relevant point is:

You cannot contact your giftee, especially not off anon.

So how do you know what they like?

Well, first of all you will get a rough description of what they’d like to receive (one of the points on the sign-up form) and a list of Do Not Wants. Usually that means you can interpret that however you please and go wild! But should you still struggle with your gift after that, you can contact the Gift Exchange Blog or one of the mods and we will get in touch with your giftee and clarify that for you. Another helpful thing can be looking through their social media account or Ao3 account. They might have posted something about the things they are interested in!

What can you expect from your gifter?

You can expect a gift that is based on what you shared with us in your sign-up form, excluding your Do Not Wants, of course.

Please make sure that your request fits both fanfiction and fanart.

Another important thing:

Remember: a Gift Exchange is not a free commission.

So do be prepared that it might not be 100% what you imagined it to be. A Gift Exchange is mostly a fun way to give and receive gifts and be creative. Your gifter still put effort into their work and worked with the information they had to create something nice just for you! So please be supportive!

While it’s a good idea to be very detailed with the information you provide, please have as many options as possible so it’s easier for the mods to match you with someone and your gifter has more room for creativity. It concerns both prompts and Do Not Wants. Even if a Do Not Want is something minor, it’s best to list it to avoid disappointments. When requesting a gift in the sign-up form, it’s a good idea to also list different tropes you like in case your prompt doesn’t inspire your gifter.

What can you make?

You can write a fanfic or create art. For this Gift Exchange those are the only options that are permitted. Requirements for both can be found here.

Art includes: digital art (drawings, paintings), physical art.

So: no gifsets, no playlists, no podfics, no manips, no edits, no moodboards etc.

Fanfiction: one 100% complete piece of written fiction.

If you are unsure about whether your creation is permissible, please contact us!

When do you get started?

It’s a good idea to get started with brainstorming as soon as you have your assignment. Sometimes your initial idea doesn’t work out and it’s good to have time to get started on a Plan B. We will check in to see how you are doing between Oct. 1 - Oct. 3 (according to the schedule) via the social media of your preference (have your DMs open throughout the whole event!), so it’s advisable that you have at least started by then.

Please make sure to not put yourself under pressure, since the main idea behind this event is to have fun! Don’t forget it!

What if you have to drop out?

Dropping out is unfortunate and of course we hope it won’t happen to you, but we understand that life is unpredictable sometimes and that unforeseen things can occur. If you need to drop out please contact us as soon as possible so we can ensure your giftee still receives a gift.

Can you discuss your gift with a friend or a beta?

Yes you can. We even encourage having a beta. But keep in mind that you are not allowed to share with them who your giftee is. So you can discuss your work but you cannot discuss the recipient.

How can you find a beta?

You can ask around on Twitter, Tumblr, Discord or ask a friend. If you make a post it’s helpful to list the ship, type of story, rating, and word count so a potential beta can assess if they have time.

For example:

I am looking for a beta reader for a Stucky story. It’s rated Teen and is 6k words long. It’s a kidfic.

We understand that sometimes it can be tricky to find a beta which is why it’s a suggestion and not a requirement.

What if you get matched with someone you don’t get along with? Or with someone who blocked you?

Please contact us as soon as possible and we will see if we can switch you up with someone or find another solution.

For those who don’t already know, we’re going to be spending the remaining 2021 months reblogging (and retweeting) former posts/tweets in effort to help bring attention to any works that might have gotten lost in shuffle. We would like your input...

Due to various circumstances with breaking in new mods, we haven’t been doing reblogs as we should have in the June Flash Bingo. This will change with the coming July Flash Bingo as we want to showcase your hard work and creations for this event.

But as many consistent users of Tumblr know many tags that are considered NSFW are buried by Tumblr making works more difficult to be seen. We want to make sure everyone’s efforts in the Stucky bingo are seen and appreciated, but we feel we have an obligation as an all-ages event to tag work as needed. That includes trigger warning tags for content that would make others uncomfortable to read or view.

We mods wanted to reach out to you as participants and followers to see how you would like works that may be considered triggering to be tagged in reblogs. Some options we have talked about using:

I periodically dive into fandom numbers, so that I can put them into Excel, for fun. This was my Friday evening, actually.

This time please enjoy most popular Steve pairings and how they compare. Stucky reigns supreme, still, Stony is more or less stable since Avengers, with a spike around EG, but SamBucky is on track to have a massive spike this year, possibly even beating out Stony and Stucky! (note that since these are numbers collected in June, depicted values for 2021 are current numbers, doubled).

What I find probably most interesting is the correlation of interest in a pairing with the relevant source material, because it’s not, as you might think, first appearance. Stony picked up after Avengers, but Stucky went mostly head-to-head with Steggy following CAFA (in absolute terms there were more Stucky fics, but the numbers were comparable), until CAWS.

So below is a graph of the numbers normalized to 1 (assumption being, the number of fics in the year where the two people first appeared together in a movie, Stucky breaks the scale on this one - goes up to 11500%). The interesting thing to me is how canon affects the numbers, and how permanent the change is. Stucky shot up into the stratosphere with Winter Soldier, and has remained high ever since, Steggy goes up and down, but slowly climbing, and I guess we’ll see what happens with SamBucky next year.

It is Stucky Flash Bingo time!

This round of flash bingo will last from June 1st through to the 30th. There will be a second one happening in July. So, if you do not feel like you are able to participate this month, you’ll have another chance next month.

Creations can be shared on any social media platform of your choice, but we mods will only be able to share works posted on Tumblr. Be sure to tag us at @stuckybingo and use #stuckyflashbingo on Tumblr so we can see and reblog. There is a Stucky Flash Bingo Collection on AO3 as well as our Discord where you can also share your creations.

IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT SUBMISSIONS!

This year for the flash and regular bingos, we will be using a submission form for all fills so the mods can better keep track of who has earned badges. All fills of any kind must be submitted via this form!

Standard rules for minimum fill requirements apply to the flash bingo. Here are links to our FAQ and Rules pages if you have any questions. If you cannot find the answer you are looking for there, feel free to message us.

As we wrap up this round of Bingo, we have a few announcements to make.

First of all, a call was put out for volunteers and some great people answered. We now have four shiny new mods to help us out! Because of this, we will be hosting another round of Stucky Bingo later this year!

That's right! We will be doing a Flash Bingo starting on June 1st. There will be five cards with five prompts. All five cards will be made available on both Tumblr and Discord. Pick one that speaks to you and write away!

Just a friendly reminder from the mods that the last day to post fills to this round’s Stucky Bingo Collection on AO3 is May 31st! Masterposts for this round are due June 6th.

But never fear, there is more Stucky Bingo fun to go. There will be another round. More news about that coming soon! You can join us at our Discord to keep up with all the announcements.

In the meantime, we are going to have two Flash Bingos! One starting June 1st that will run the full month. The second one will start July 1st and run the full month.

There will be Five Cards to choose from with Five Prompts on each. Pick a card that inspires you and create. Just be sure to tag us here on Tumblr @stuckybingo or with the tag #stuckyflashbingo so we can see and rec your work. There will be a new collection to add your Flash Bingo fills to on AO3 which we will link on the 1st.

For the Flash Bingos and the next round we host, we will be doing something a little different. We will require you to fill out a submission form so we mods can keep track of your bingo squares. This will ensure your work is counted properly so you can receive the badges you have earned. When the Flash Bingo opens, we will include a link to the submission form here on Tumblr and on our Discord server.
