Stromae Van Haver

In capsule 3, Mosaert’s moved away from Stromae’s formal stage style and given us something more casual. Instead of polos and cardigans, there are collared t-shirts, and soft-touch velvet sweatshirts and jogging pants. The new designs feature geometric birds and pixelated roses, recalling the songs Carmen and Ave Cesaria. I’m in love with the rich colors on the velvet pieces!

The collection is pricey, due in part to the clothes being manufactured in Europe. When you buy Mosaert, you support workers making a fair wage.

Stromae’s really skinny, and many of us assume skinny = weak. But those abs you see in that glorious picture above aren’t painted on…that’s all him, just sitting in a way to show off muscles that aren’t always obvious on his body type. Because of the way he’s built, he’ll never look “buff,” but if you’ve seen his show, you know how he keeps moving and jumping for up to 2 hours. His dancing takes a huge amount of strength and stamina, something only a performer at the top of his game could do night after night for 2 solid years of touring. Dude is FIT.

Here’s a funny, catchy French tune about a barman plagued by difficult customers. At the 1:30 mark, we see a Stromae lookalike dancing drunkenly on a table. Here’s the verse that goes along:

I like this a lot, it simultaneously captures Stromae’s melancholy and cynicism.
