Hi, I'm Hakim, and this is Strike the Wanderer, my persona.
They are a 'wanderer' AKA wandering dragon, AKA wandering monarch butterfly, which is actually an entirely different species to what we call European monarch butterflies.
In case you're wondering why they look different, they're still in their 'worm' state, i.e. pre-metamorphosis.
They're not a caterpillar, because technically wandering monarchs are dragonfly that just happen to look like European monarch butterflies.
Yep, sorry America, but those huge butterfly migrations... they're actually dragonfly migrations.
-and just like other creatures in the same family, such as mayfly and mosquitos, the whole family is well known to travel in huge groups, unlike butterflies which don't do that.
They swing on silk threads like Spider-man, but unlike real spiders, they can actually control their movement quite well.
They hunt their prey using stealth. They usually hunt bees, hence their coloring.
Immune to all plant-based and animal-based poisons. Every inch of their body contains digitalis poison, which they get by eating plants that contain it, like Mexican Rattle (Cascabela Thevetia).
Yes, that also means they'd be immune to the SCP's memetic toxin as well as any tranquilizers or anaesthetics, except for laughing gas.
Sadly this means they also cannot get intoxicated.
They have exceptional eyesight and acrobatic abilities, even baiting songbirds to try and eat them, so they can backflip in the air and ride of the bird's head, to save on energy when travelling long distances.
Speaking of long distances, they are the furthest travelled species on the planet, being found on every continent, including the polar ice caps, and they can fly for literally hours non-stop.
They are warm blooded and can even survive being frozen solid.
They are able to block unnecessary stimulus from different wavelengths in their eyes, meaning their vision doesn't get glare in strong sunlight, and they can see in the dark.
As a side note, that also means their immune to the effects of the neuralyzer from Men in Black, and they're unable to get photosensitive epilepsy or alice in wonderland syndrome.
It also means they can see heat and radioactivity.
They even take advantage of this, using radio towers as protection against bats.
They rest using micro-sleeps, i.e. they space out their sleeping time into 15 minute rests throughout a 24 hour period, staying awake for half an hour in between.
though their life is short-lived in their flying form, being only about 2 weeks tops, in their worm form they can live for decades.
They are rarely eaten by birds, but may be temporarily picked up and carried by them, before releasing themselves from the bird's beak.
They usually die by them killing and eating each other, or simply old age after transforming into their flying form, which unlike butterflies, they can still eat in that form.
They are opportunists when it comes to prey and lacking easy prey, they will bite larger animals, such as your family pets and maybe even humans.
Don't let them do this, because there's a high chance they'll poison their target and digitalis poison is deadly to most animals.
