Regarding the "Gifts must be new, original works created for the exchange." rule, does that only apply to the work itself or the concept behind it? More specifically, if I've written and posted a drabble on a concept before, but I feel it fits my giftee's request very well, would I be allowed to rework that premise into a full work or would I need to come up with a new idea to base my work on?
This runs into some deeper philosophical questions about the nature of originality, but for the purposes of this exchange I'd say maybe look at it from a practical lens. Would looking at the two works side by side make it clear that one is essentially an early draft of the other? Then maybe not. Are there notable changes to the original idea to better fit your recipient? Then maybe.
If it's something to the effect of like, a post previously made rambling about ideas on a specific dynamic, and the new work is a fully fleshed out scene that pulls those ideas and adapts them to the request, then that's easily a 'go for it' from me. If it's something more like 'I've directly dragged and dropped this initial mini-scene in and built up around it', then I'd say that probably doesn't qualify.
