28-07-2015 Just coming off the back of a huge weekend that included opening for Aussie rock legends The Radiators at Sugarland Tavern. What a great bunch of blokes and their thirty something year career in music is something to aspire to! Although their drummer cracked a window with his almighty boots, hopefully The Radiators still had as good a time as we did! The night before we were entertaining some of Toowoomba’s finest and a few of our mates who know a good show when they hear about one. Marcus somehow picked up a parking ticket (in Toowoomba?!?) but other than that it was another great night.

Coming up soon is our show with American rockers The BellRays at the Zoo. We’ll have the home court advantage but that doesn’t mean we won’t have to bring our sexiest riffs and most powerful sounds to really bring it to the table. What are you reading? Ben is balancing study and pleasure with James Patterson’s Kill Me If You Can as well as Poet in the Making - Notebooks of Dylan Thomas.

What are you watching? Justin is re-watching Sons of Anarchy all the way through. As a result, on our roadtrip up to Bundaberg whenever he saw two cars pulled over on the side of the road he told us it was definitely a drug deal!

Big shoutout to Belle Vue in Warwick and Sugarland in Bundaberg for having us last week. The Belle Vue was seriously one of the best gigs to date - we packed out the cafe venue and had the whole front row up dancing and singing along! Great bunch of people and cool support bands Vellacott Trio and The Flame Fields.

Sugarland Tavern was great fun and we found out that we’ll be supporting Aussie music stalwarts The Radiators back there in July. Super excited to see those guys in action with thirty something years experience behind them. Wonder what Street Pieces will be up to in 30 years....

Here’s a recipe for our drummer’s Chicken Stir Fry:

Ingredients:

Two chicken breasts

Two carrots

Bunch of Bok Choy or Pak Choy or some Asian green

Capsicum

Soy Sauce

BBQ Sauce

Garlic

Plain Flour

Olive Oil

Salt and Pepper

- Heat frying pan with oil

- Dice the chicken breast into cubes

- Place plain flour in a bag and season with salt and pepper

- Put chicken in with flour and shake until nicely coated

- Fry floured chicken pieces until golden brown. While waiting for it to cook...

- Chop carrots, capsicum and Asian greens

- Mix together a few tablespoons of soy sauce, a squeeze or two of BBQ sauce, finely chopped garlic, a little warm water and some flour to thicken. Stir it all together

- Remove chicken from pan and rest on paper towel. Place veges in pan and fry for about a minute

- Return chicken to pan with veges and add sauce mixture. Let simmer until it thickens a little

What a smashing bunch of weekends! We went way out west to Chinchilla and had a great time playing and then partying at a onesie party - some more q and a on the way! Writing or rehearsing?  Bit of both. We have one new track that’s got us pretty excited and hopefully we can debut it soon and work on polishing it up.

What are you listening to? Well we were pretty inspired by Shihad’s performance the other week so three of us went out and got their album FVEY. It’s heavy, powerful, drone rock and we’re really digging it right now.

What’s good to eat? We had some pretty top notch Chicken Schnitzels at The Club in Chinchilla this weekend gone. What games are you playing? Welllll we’re pretty pumped about the Fallout 4 announcement. Just downloaded Fallout Shelter and it looks like it might pass some time till we get the real thing!

What are you looking forward to?  We got to announce our support slot with American band Bell Rays coming up in August so we’re psyched for that! Heading out to Warwick this weekend and then Bundaberg (Fundaberg!) so hitting the road should be pretty swell. We have some bigger trips in the works too so that’s all very exciting! Oh and State of Origin too :-)
