Being a girl is: wanting to go to bed early but deciding to just get on tumblr/wattpad/Ao3 for a little bit and then end up finding a fic series that you really like and read until well past your usual bedtime then keeping on because itās already past your bedtime. Then being mad when you wake up in the morning because you overslept your timer.
Canāt You See Iām Here? Reader x Malfoy Part 1
Summary: First year reader meeting Draco Malfoy, the certified yapper jackass.
Back again with my active imagination and I cannot!! Get this one out of my head. I will have to write this dooown to save my head some space.
Youāre a first year witch who just received her invitation to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry during the summer. Frankly, you got multiple invitations to other wizarding schools, but Hogwarts resonated differently. Your father was a Drumstrang Institute graduate and your mum Uagadou School of Magic. Theyāre experts in their own craft. Lucky for them, they seem to know what they wanted to focus early on. You, on the other hand, are still exploring your options.
The magical world just fascinates you. Hogwarts seemed like the better choice to explore the foundations and magical disciplines. You grew up exposed to both the muggle and wizarding world. Your fatherās company even employ muggles!
āI donāt want to work at the ministry, itās boring!ā He said once. Good for him because thatās how him and mum met. They work together now.
Youāre especially excited today because youāll be visiting Diagon Alley to get school supplies. You canāt wait to find out the wand youāll get or what familiar will connect with you.
Youāre waiting in the living room for your parents. Your father walks over to you to give a quick kiss on the head. He also made a passing mention about the boy who lived being enrolled there this year too. Youāre not sure if you remember his name, Harry Potts? Garry Howter?
āYouāll be in the same year as him. I canāt believe how much time flies sinceāā your father paused, mum was already downstairs and staring daggers at him. He quickly cleared his throat and smiled sheepishly at her. You vaguely remember hearing about the dark years in the wizarding world. Your parents rarely mentions it.
āWear your best robe, my dear,ā your mother raised her finger, a quick swish, and your dark blue robe flew down softly unto her hands, āwe should make a visit to Diagon Alley today. Weāre quite late shopping for your needs, I hope the best options are not out of stock.ā
You nodded and took the robe out of your mumās hand. āMy letter did come a bit late. But, Iāve made a list of what I need,ā you gave your parents a quick grin, āI canāt wait to shop!ā
āLetās apparate, itās much quicker,ā your father said.
āI agree,ā your mum smiled warmly at your father.
As you were preparing to head out, your fatherās phone rang. Seriously!
āIt better not be work,ā you grumbled.
āHello? Yes, yes, what? No- Merlin! Are you serious?!ā Your fatherās tone does not sound good, and you definitely donāt like where this is going.
āSweetheart, everything okay?ā Your mum asked, concerned.
āWe need to head in to the office, theyāre asking for both of us,ā your father answered softly.
You slumped. Theyāre always busy, and you donāt mind, but this absolutely sucks. Your parents were looking at each other, their faces concerned and you really donāt want to be in between their work. You have the list, youāve been to Diagon Alley beforeāfour years ago, but no matter.
āLook, mum, dad,ā you rubbed your temple, āitās fine, I can go and I know thereās a floo network close by thatās connected to Gringotts. Iāll cash out the money and head out to shop.ā
Your parents looked at you. Their mouths opening to speak, but you really donāt want to hear it. Youāre excited to go and you donāt want the day ruined.
āItās fine,ā you answered shortly, not wanting to show your disappointment.
āOkay, please be careful. Do you have your two-way mirror?ā Said your mom, holding your face in her hands.
āYes, mum,ā you tapped your magic bag to assure her before squeezing her hands and slowly pushing them down.
āI think itās best for you to exchange instead of going down to the vaults. Up to you, my dear.ā Your father handed you the family vault key, a small golden key with 333 written on it.
You reached out to take it, but heās right. āOn second thought, youāre right. I really donāt want to go down that dingy mine vault,ā you half-laughed, āIāll exchange.ā
He nodded and handed you a brown envelope, instead. āKeep this safe, sweetheart. Thereās a few thousand pounds here, I believe Ā£6,500. Donāt spend it all in one place and do not spend it on magical candies.ā He grinned and you rolled your eyes.
āI wonāt. Thank you, dad,ā you answered, putting the envelope into your bag.
Money has never been an issue for your family. You know that early on, youāve been privileged to access the best tutors and opportunities. Your parents pretty much homeschooled you and taught you everything you need to know in their free time. Pros of having parents from two great wizarding schools, you suppose. But right now? You really just wanted them to join your first year shopping spree.
āIām off, bye both.ā You smiled and hugged them before heading out.
āI love you,ā your parents said together.
ā
You managed to exchange your muggle money with galleons and a few sickles for change. You put them in your leather pouch. Your father said that itās imbued with magic and cannot be opened by anyone outside of the family. Exiting Gringotts was a bit overwhelming, the amount of people in Diagon Alley is insane. You have your list in hand but youāre not sure where to start.
You sighed. āMaybe Madam Malkinās Robes for All Occasion might be a good start,ā you mumbled and make your way through the crowd. You see first years with their parents, walking hand-in-hand or a house-elf to accompany them. Lucky. But, your parents always hated the idea of owning a house-elf, they said itās unethical and useless.
āA pathetic excuse many wizards use to slave and bully an exceptionally smart creature.ā Your father mentioned once to you.
You pushed through the shopās door. A quick ring from the doorbell and a small welcome from the little head sprites. Youāre met with a whiff of new fabric. The shop was crowded, but you walked into the shop in awe, holding the strap of your bag closely. The elegant purple curtains draped over the shop, jewelries inside glass cases, and rows of various kind of robes.
You looked through the standard black robes, felt the fabric, and frowned. You turn your head around to scan other areas within the shop to explore. Where is the area with better fabric? The shop assistants seemed to be busy running around with pins flying around them, adjusting other first year studentsā robes on the footstools. Others are behind the counter counting galleons and assisting who you think may be Madam Malkin herself.
While looking through the robes, you felt someone watching you from your peripheral vision.
āHello,ā said a boy with pale, pointed face, āHogwarts, too?ā You looked up. He glanced at your fingers holding the robes. āYes,ā you straightened.
āWhat are you doing touching and feeling the robes?ā He asked curiously, eyebrows raised. āI donāt quite like the fabric in this row. Iām not sure where the good ones are,ā you answered back.
āHah! Thatās Malkins for you. Youād do better at Twilfitt and Tattings, at least thatās what mother said,ā he grinned proudly. You hummed in response, not paying much attention to him now, but noting on visiting this other shop.
āYou should get yourself fitted. Iām going on next, I canāt believe thereās this many witches and wizards in here. I canāt stand it,ā the boy drawls on, āthis is why my family shops mostly in the south side, but a lot of school supplies are available around here.ā
You glanced at him. He talks a lot. He signaled you to follow him towards the footstools. He didnāt bother to greet the assistants or Madam Malkin, just stretched his arms and had the robes immediately fitted for him.
āHogwarts?ā A woman asked, you presumed to be Madam Malkin dressed in all mauve. āGot the lot here.ā She said before you can answer.
āUm, can you fit me for the enchanted robes?ā You asked, finally standing on the stools to be fitted.
āSure, my dear!ā Madam Malkin answered, flying needles adjusting you to the robe. āIāll take a few. It would be wonderful if you can add threadings to it,ā you watch as the shop assistant run to get more robes for you, āsilver would be nice, thank you. Oh! And, maybe add a few fastenings to the list? Dragon-hide would be very nice.ā
āYouāre asking for a lot,ā said the boy next to you, cutting in. āYeah,ā you answered curtly, ādonāt want to miss anything.ā
He shrugged, seemingly not affected by your curt answers. Either heās not affected or heās literally dense. āHonesty, same. My fatherās next door buying my books and motherās up the street looking at wands,ā he yawned, while looking out the window seemingly bored. āIām taking them to look at brooms. Iāll bully my father into getting me one and smuggle it into school somehow,ā he grinned, āI donāt see why first years canāt have their own.ā
He irked you and you wished he would stop, but alas, he continued.
āHave you got a broom?ā The boy went on.
āNo,ā you answered.
āYour books?ā
āNo.ā
āHow about your wand?ā
āNot yet.ā
āWhat about your familiars, gotten them yet?ā
āNo,ā you sighed. You feel absolutely defeated answering this pale blond boy and wished your parents are here to help you out. Thereās a behemoth of things to look for and doing this solo trip in a day is such a bad idea. Youāre definitely coming home late.
āWhere are your parents?ā
āTheyāre at work,ā you answered matter-of-fact. He raised his eyebrow at your answer, āWork? Are they muggles?ā He added an emphasis on the last word. You donāt like his tone and how the words coming out of his mouth sounded dirty.
āNo, theyāre not,ā you said shortly. Not wanting to explain to a stranger boy. He hummed in reply.
āDo you know what house youāll be in?ā
āNo, do you?ā You looked at him curiously. What first year would know which house theyāll be sorted into anyway?
āWell, no. No one really knows until they get there, do they,ā you hummed weakly in agreement, ābut I do know Iāll be in Slytherin, all of our family have beenāimagine being in Hufflepuff, I think Iād leave,ā he snickered, āwouldnāt you?ā
Seriously, what?
Before you can answer, Madam Malkin was right in front of you and said āAnything else, my dear? What would you like the threading be?ā
āMy initials would be wonderful,ā you smiled, āitās (Your initials). Thank you so much.ā
āBeautiful,ā she answered back warmly, before being cut off by the boy still standing next to you.
āWere your parents Hogwarts graduates too?ā The boy tilted his head to you.
āNo,ā you answered. You were about to tell him where, but you shut yourself up.
āHm, anyway, I really donāt think they should let the others sort in, do you,ā he continued without giving you a moment to answer, āTheyāre just not the same, theyāve never been brought up to know our ways.ā
āWhat do you mean?ā You cut in.
āYou know, some of them have never even heard Hogwarts until they get the letter, imagine,ā he clicked his tongue, like a know-it-all, āI think they should keep it in the old wizarding families.ā
Now, heās really pissing you off.
āWhatās your surname, anyway?ā He asked in a bored tone.
You know this is the make or break question for a lot of first year wizards and witches. It annoys you too. Britainās rigid class, blood-status hierarchies, and stupid obsession with āblood purity.ā You know your lineage, but having to call yourself part of an āelite pure-bloodā family feels like a label for an exotic zoo animal. Your parents taught you better, and you know youāre probably no better than the next muggle born witch.
āWhatās yours?ā You challenged back, chin up, not wanting to give him an answer yet.
āMalfoy,ā he answered smugly with a wide grin plastered across his face, āDraco Malfoy.ā

Yoko didn't break up the Beatles, really. They HAD to do it because the four get tired of each other. That's ok for a band which existed more than 5 years. Someone takes a rest, someone breaks up quietly, someone argues like beatles had done. Why should you blame Yoko on the fact that John, Paul, Ringo, and George had just became older and they wanted to make their own lifes out of the band?
The only Yoko could made dirty these days is hooking John up to heroin. Don't forget that after Brian's death the Beatles start shitting on each other more usually.
(I don't like Yoko but I don't hate her. So you should, too.)

some hyper famous artists like Van Gogh transcend overratedness and become underrated because they're so normalized. Like I'll look at a van Gogh and I'm like wait this really is amazing you guys don't get it
