Although I want to stay active, a lot of things have changed and it seems inappropriate to just, continue on with this blog.
I might make a new one for this.

A Waterfall Moonlight, 1886 ~ by Ralph Albert Blakelock
Iām back, maybe. Thereās some renovating I need to do on this blog.
Iāll never understand anti-otherkin, you have to be very arrogant to comment on the mental health of strangers youāve never met and furthermore diagnose us.*
Itās worse considering most of them have the vaguest understanding of otherkin and never bothered to look it up outside the realm of tumblr - you donāt think it makes you look like a doofus at all, to be so vocally opinionated about something you have a lack of information onā¦?Ā
I think I trust the word of my own therapist(s) and psychiatrist than anti-otherkin, to which Iāve actually spoken in depth about my identity and whom do not see it as an issue or mental health problem.Ā
Then again, most of the ādiagnosesā given by anti-otherkin are more often made to be insulting and they clearly see āstrangeā characteristics of mental illnesses as degrading.Ā
*A reminder that in order to form a diagnosis you should be basing that diagnosis off of that personās medical history, an examination of that personās behavioral patterns and attitude, and an assessment of symptoms. Not taking a stroll through the otherkin tag for say, fifteen minutes.
hm.
Iāll never understand anti-otherkin, you have to be very arrogant to comment on the mental health of strangers youāve never met and furthermore diagnose us.*
iām not sure about the rest of the anti-kin community, but, i for one have never diagnosed someone who is an otherkin. claiming that one has delusions, when it is very clear that many types of otherkin do, is not diagnosing someone with anything. delusions are a symptom, theyāre something to explain explicit disconnects from reality.
so if someone calls you delusional, they arenāt diagnosing you with anything. simply pointing out something that you are expressing in your views. i donāt think itās right to comment on peopleās mental health, but if all you otherkin scream isĀ āstop harassing a mentally ill minor1!!!!111!!!ā, key word: mentally ill, then theyāre going to point it out.
i know i do.

i have looked at both cases, personallyā and i still happen to think that both forms are rather unnecessary and quite frankly bullshit identities. however, thatās my sole opinion. iām not a professionalā but i have opinions on stupid shit, but thatās my opinionā again.
I think I trust the word of my own therapist(s) and psychiatrist than anti-otherkin, to which Iāve actually spoken in depth about my identity and whom do not see it as an issue or mental health problem.
please. if youāre one of the more vanilla otherkin that you speak of that exist outside of tumblr as well, good for you! i highly doubt that those who simply wear tails and do nothing more are really all that unhealthy, however. youāre speaking for yourself. what about the deitykin, godkin, fictionkinā and factkin? the ones who ask for worship and sacrifices, the people who identify as characters that have never existed to begin with, or the people who claim to be the same person as another, living, breathing human being. none of that sounds remotely good to meā or healthy, for that matter.
Then again, most of the ādiagnosesā given by anti-otherkin are more often made to be insulting and they clearly see āstrangeā characteristics of mental illnesses as degrading.
iād like to see some citations of anti-kin diagnosing otherkin. please.

well, youāre not wrong.

Back when I was active, people definitely were diagnosing otherkin as collectively mentally ill and delusional, more often than not to be insulting. Iām sure it happens just as frequently as it did then but I havenāt checked the tags.
Although delusions are a symptom, they still need to be diagnosed by a psychiatrist in order to be classified as a delusion.Ā
Yes, some otherkin do state that their identity is the result of a delusion so it wouldnāt be incorrect for someone to say it was a delusion - that is, if the entire community was composed of mentally ill individuals, which it isnāt and is not measurable at this point.Ā
If youāve never called otherkin delusional, havenāt tried pinning a diagnosis in order to somehow illegitimize the identity or used mental illness to insult otherkin: congrats, you are one of the few.
Did you honestly look at otherkin outside of tumblr, because youāre implying that off of here we donāt exist. If you did, if you actually bothered to become acquainted with the subject you would be much more aware of the otherkin community off of tumblr - which is fairly large, and far different from the atmosphere on here.Ā
I am fictionkin, surprise. Again, I talked to my therapists and my doctor about it, I explained my reasoning for the identity and they saw no harm in it - therefore no problem. We moved on to bigger things, itās simple to grasp. I canāt speak for gods or deities because Iām not one, I can only speak for myself. I thought you werenāt keen on commenting on peopleās mental health? For the second time, I do not care about what a stranger believes is healthy for me because they do not know my mental health, my personal information and essentially understand zip about me. Iām placing my trust in the hands of doctors Iām acquainted with and who I know are capable of making rational decisions, and are civil toward me.
Even if what I was experiencing was a delusion - I wouldnāt care, because itās just not doing me any harm. If it was, yes, that would then be a problem for me to take care of. However itās already been evaluated that it is not.
Factkin werenāt otherkin, might I add. As far as I know people were having delusions of being other people, however didnāt want to refer to it as a delusion because it invalidated their reality. So they came up with factkin. No one really accepts them as being part of the community, however I am still upholding the idea that no one should be criticizing their mental health considering itās their business, they probably already know if itās harming them or not, and itās their business how theyāre dealing with it. Mentally ill people still have their autonomy, which many often forget.Ā
If you want sources you can scroll through the otherkin tag. I donāt know what itās like now, when I was actively making posts it was riddled with people calling otherkin delusional and mentally ill, etc. You can delve into my blog as well, as Iām sure Iāve called people out for it many times.
I wonāt be around much, if youāve already noticed. Things are out of line offline right now and Iām in a strange spot, so I wonāt be on this sideblog often or speaking much about otherkin topics. Feel free to follow my main, though.Ā
Question for Fictionkin
I was just wondering about one thing. Please donāt take this as a hostile post, I just mean to learn more about it.
Question: Is fictionkin something you are born with (like you feel it but canāt explain it until you finally see the series the character is in) or is something you choose when the series comes out?
People donāt necessarily choose to be the characters they identify as - sometimes an individual may begin watching a series and over time begin to understand that theyāre kin with them. Itās more of a choice to recognize this identity, than to see the character and choose to be them.
Thereās a lot of ways one might realize theyāre fictionkin - some people, might see it as something you were born with but not realize until later in life. I see my own fictotype as a past life sorta deal, and therefore it would have already been with me when I was born. Even when I first became aware of the character when I was a kid, it still took years to figure out what I was feeling toward the character and what it meant. But as a child, I probably didnāt really know much about that part of myself until I first saw the character.
I wasnāt born with the identity however, and didnāt start IDing as fictionkin until later on in life.
It really varies per person how we see our identities and how we came to realize them, but I hope this answers your question!Ā

Hey yeah, can you leave my fucking girlfriend alone? That'd be greatly appreciated. And no, she didn't tell me to come over here and tell you this, I came here by myself. You have no right to call her something that she isn't. I happen to be transgender, so tell me how she can be transphobic when she's dating someone who identifies as transgender? Yeah, your downgrading on my girlfriend backfired. Think again before you pick on someone.
Youāre a little late to the party, honestly if this is even a real person. If I had a nickel for everytime there was that āIām TOO a trans & I disagree with you!!ā fake-ass anonā¦
Shockingly, a cis person can still be transphobic, even when they are in a relationship with a transgender person. This is an obvious fact and a common occurrence for trans people in which our significant others have ideas and views which negatively impacts us. Iāve had the pleasure of breaking off a lot of friendships with cis people because of their transphobia, however theyāll insist to their graves that it was never so, and because āif I was a transphobe how can I be friends with you!ā. Itās the same, bullshitted rhetoric.
I noticed you both use the same terms and language when you speak. Iād say thatās a little skeevy, anon. Why donāt you come back off of anon?Ā
āThink again before you pick on someoneā. That gave me a good giggle. I wasnāt aware that I was such a big bully, calling out those transphobes and allā¦

Lmao you otherkin bitches and your defensiveness. Get over yourself. I know the difference between otherkin and transgender, but apparently you donāt. Otherkin should not exist, you make yourself look stupid. Being transgender can be dangerous for someā¦
Youāre contributing to ideas which hurt transgender people and refusing to listen to trans people when they correct you, so therefore⦠I call it as I see it, as someone who has experienced this kind of transphobia, and as a trans person.
The action of telling a trans person off for referring to you as transphobic just solidifies this. Instead of actually caring about what weāre saying to you, youāll write it off and continue to use us as props in your arguments. Youāre being called a transphobe for a reason, bite your tongue - and use your head.
You are literally saying otherkin is the same as transphobia, because I donāt like otherkin. Did I ever say I didnāt like transgenders? Nope. You said earlier that otherkin isnāt the same as transgender, yet you put it in the same category as being transphobic. Which I am not. Try again at downgrading me.
Thatās not what Iām saying at all, you need to go back and read what Iām saying to you.
Iām telling you as a trans person, you donāt have to like otherkin. Iām also telling you, saying otherkin is harmful to us as your backing for your reason to dislike otherkin, is more harmful to trans people than you considered. This as a result leads to transphobia and the erasure of our identities as trans people.Ā
Refusing to listen to a trans person when youāve been told to not do something which perpetuates transphobic ideas, is transphobia. Transphobia in the social sense is not just disliking transgender people, itās furthermore actions against us which may or may not have been intentional. Speaking over trans people is an example of this. You should be considering that you, a cis person does not know as much on this topic as someone whoās been in both communities for a few years now, and especially as someone who is transgender.Ā
Thatās all there is too it. Otherkin hate is in no way comparable to transphobia, however in this case, the situation encourages transphobic ideas.
Lmao you think I donāt know anything. š You think that cis people canāt speak about other communities. How pathetic.
I think that cis people are more than welcome to support trans people, however if you speak over trans people & act as if you know far more than we do about what is and isnāt transphobic⦠Well, I have news for you - you are no ally to us.Ā
So yes, I really donāt think you know anything, or youāre just digging your heels in the dirt out of sheer stubbornness. It could be both.
Did I say I knew more than you? Nope. Did I act like I knew more than you? lol no. Bye, get off my blog.
You imply it with your reluctance to listen to what trans people are telling you about what youāre doing wrong in yourĀ āsupportā for us. Your inability to actually care about the opinions of trans people & how this conflates with this reluctance is telling of this fact.Ā
As you wish it, may it be so. Itās obvious you donāt care truly care about us, and therefore I see no reason to continue pointing out your transphobia. The case has been made, ciao.
