Mera had explored the surface world several times with Arthur. Â It helped having him there to answer questions. Â As well as just in general enjoying his company. Â Well, she more than just enjoyed his company, in fact, she had found herself missing his company. Â Nothing and nobody in Atlantis could fill the Arthur shaped hole in her day or, it seemed, distract her from the ache of it any longer.
When she decided to visit the surface world she first discussed it with Vulko. Â The kingdoms were currently stable and he was confident he could manage in her absence. Â Prior to leaving she checked Arthurâs location and remembered to grab a bag of gold coins that she could use for currency on the surface world.
Once on the surface world she first located a shop that was willing to trade her some of the paper the surface world uses as currency for a few of the coins she had. Â Then she found another shop where she could get some clothes and a nice bag to put her Atlantean clothes in as well as something called a wallet for her currency.
Mera checked the tracking device for Arthurâs location and began walking toward him. Â The surface worldâs cities were still so fascinating to her. Â She walked by another shop that seemed to have food in various small packages and drinks in glass cases as well. Â Walking around on the surface made her quite thirsty. Â She quickly discovered that without Arthur to answer questions, she quickly became confused. Â The only thing she knew was that she wanted nothing to do with bottled monster blood or whatever parts of a monster they put in the strange metal bottles.
She ran a hand through her hair and frowned at the beverages. Â Why did there have to be so many? Â There were a dozen varieties of water alone. Â What was a cherry? Â What did diet mean? Â What mountainâs dew was bright green and bubbly and why would anyone drink that?
Normally, Wong did the shopping. After finding out the hard way that Stephen had survived on hospital food, five-star restaurants, and tv dinners before him, he was banned from going grocery shopping. However, as a protest in a small form over Stephen joining the Avengers and leaving for a few days to set-up his room in the compound, Wong had gotten rid of all of Stephenâs favorites.Â
After picking up a few things and dropping them off, he once again left to go to the small corner store nearby to grab what the other store didnât have. With a few snacks (hardly healthy ones) packed in his basket, he walked over to the coolers for his mineral water.
The striking red hair was distracting as he turned to step away. He noticed her taking in the many choices in the cooler and for some reason, decided he might step-in with some assistance. âIf itâs water youâre looking for, might I suggest as a doctor to take the electrolyte path, or these mineral waters really arenât bad. Soda wise, do yourself a favor and stray from the diet selections, unless youâre wanting to give your teeth an acid bath,â he reckoned.Â
