Hands of Georgia O’Keeffe - No. 26, 1919, Alfred Stieglitz
Chris Marker, If I had four dromedaries 1966
Jean-Luc Godard, Les carabiniers 1963
I regret it, I regret it all. I thought regret was the worst feeling ever yet it is merely an acknowledgement of one’s mistake. So I regret it all. I wasted my time, I wasted my love, I wasted my hopes. It estranged me from myself, from my once very close pillar-lilac friends, from my future. It added grievance to grief and delayed my grieving. I thought for a minute there that I could be larger than life, that I too shall live and expect pretty and simple things instead of being on the edge, standing in an unsteady, tottery scaffolding built with bits and scraps of wood blown by the wind in a forest-less city. I stand still and tall amidst the storm on this precarious board. I thought I could stand on a solid cemented balcony for once and watch the sunset or something. Eyelashes were the only cynosure, deeply hidden were unconscious tangled lies invisible to the eye. Words emerged and were louder than faintheartedness because I only speak the language of the soul no matter which language I am speaking. Foolish, how foolish I was to believe in words. It’s probably the only thing I believed in my whole life so what was to be expected of me but to dive heart first in an ocean of words. Faulty fulcrum. Whatever the reasons, the excuses, the aggravating factors, I regret it all. For I put the best of me in the weakest, careless swindle. It was a daytime robbery.
An ambulance can only
go so fast
It's easy to get buried
in the past
When you try to make
a good thing last.

Go your own way
Watch me turn my own head
Eyes on the driver, hands in my lap
Heading to the city to get my body back
Don't take it for granted
Love when you have it
You might be looking over
A lonelier shoulder
Remember when we said
We'd never have children
I'm holdin' your baby
Now that we're older
How time has revealed how
Little we know us
I've been too busy
I should've noticed
Days that keep slipping
Our lives that I'm missing
I wish it were true love
I wish we were kissing
Show me a love that
Won't ever leave or
Look for another
One to deceive
I'm beginning to wonder
If anything's real
Guess we're just at the mercy
Of the way that we feel
Alive with a past
No other can share
Alone with her heart
No other can bear
So give me some heaven
Just for a while
Make me eternal
There in your smile
A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness
- John Keats, Endymion
He made a space between you and me
A place where I could breathe
And be myself again
He told me that I would eventually
Move on
To something better
Something truer
Out of harm’s way
While you’ll stay stuck
In what you have
With the memory of my love
In the back of your mind
Jenny Holzer
