Plug and Play, Balcony Solar System

These are a new type of solar panel coming onto the US-CA market. I've been looking into getting one of these auxiliary, plug and play solar systems for the back yard of my townhouse condo.

I really hoped to install two 400W panels from Bright Saver to offset our baseline electric usage, but my problem is where to place them so they are illuminated properly. My backyard is very shady and I simply don't have the floor space for them. My balcony is also too small to accommodate two 400W panels. Mounting them to the roof would work, but that is HOA property and raises the installation costs to unacceptable levels. A single, 400W panel might be a better fit since we don't have much space and we don't consume a lot of baseline power.

Another complication is that these systems are in a legal gray area for PG&E, HOAs and City Permits. California State laws making this much simpler and easier are going into effect starting Jan 2027.
