so yesterday I rewatched that scene from Captain America; The Winter Soldier, where Steve and Sam are both running and Steve keeps catching up on Sam and saying ‘On your left’ everytime he does. and later steve starts small talk with him, they introduce themselves, and when Steve wants to walk away Sam calls him back, asking him if it is his matrass, that it is to soft, and Steve replies with ‘Like sleeping on a marshmallow’

so i watched that, and now i have this headcanon that when Steve and Tony get together, Tony notices Steve sleeps uneasy, constantly turning and adjusting his body, like he never finds a comfortable position and is just very restless in general. and because it’s Steve we’re talking about he doesn’t complain or say anything, so Tony goes to Sam to ask for advice and Sam explains that Steve has a hard time sleeping on soft matrasses because he is used to hard ones from his time in the army, just the whole marshmallow thing
and like, from the moment Tony is made aware of this, he immediately tosses out his old matrass and buys a new one for Steve, behind his back, so the next time they lay down together Steve is surprised to feel the new matrass and when he wants to ask Tony what he’d done the brunet just shushes him and simply orders him to have a good night of sleep for once. Steve later whispers a deeply grateful thanks in Tony’s ear when the brunet is on his way of drifting off to sleep in Steve’s embrace
Tony barely notices the change in matrass, because he uses Steve as body pillow anyhow, and now both of them can finally sleep peacefully
Idk i just thought of this idea and because i’m trash for domestic headcanons i fell in love with it😋 i may write a one shot of this at one point, if i find inspiration and motivation to do so
