"If you aren't tired of me yet, then that sounds delightful," Belle offers with a crooked smile. "Truthfully, I... usually come here alone, but I must say, I far prefer it now with your company." She prefers most things with her company.

“ Yes, I have been treated well by my co-workers. I believe the majority find the paperwork droll, but it is second nature to me. Conversely, I am learning to use a computer system, which has been … fun. I still get to use my hands ; I enjoy keeping them busy. ” [ she raises her hands to give them a little shake, an attempt at being playful. would it be too odd to mention she has never used technology before arriving up here? maybe she has already assumed, by the way she doesn't own a cell phone? she would like to eventually, so they can continue to speak when they are apart. ]

although it didn’t show on his face beyond a subtle increase in his own smile, he preened internally at the compliment. he'd never say no to a little flattery, sure, but also because he knew getting ldg to smile was an accomplishment in of itself—stone faced as she was, any expression that cracked through that mask was to be taken with more weight than it’d have on anyone else's face.

he quickly finished chewing his own bite of food, answering her question once he wasn't liable to spray bits of rice with each word “oh, he’s gonna be real pissy about missing lunch—and, yeah, that’s the shrimp. i, uh, add extra usually ‘cause it’s one of the best parts and you use the shells to make the stock so it’s more potent that way.” not being familiar with gumbo he could understand, but never having shrimp before?

from what she and cesare had let slip—and the whole, you know, yellow eyes and deathly blue pallor deal they had going on—he knew something not so vaguely supernatural was up with them. ironically, that just made it all the more surprising. probably been alive and kicking longer than any normal human could ever dream and she’d somehow never had shrimp of all things? huh…

“what else have you not tried before?" he asked, quickly derailing his own question to point at a piece of meat in her gumbo. "actually, try the sausage next—it’s different from the brand i usually put in it but i actually think i like it better. bit spicier though so hope you’re not a wuss about some heat.”

“ ... I like this as well, yes. I enjoy the spice, it is stronger than the other flavors. They pair well. You are talented at the art of cooking. ” [ at the question of what she hasn't tried before, she has to recall the foods she KNOWS of thus far ... ]

“ Foods I have not tried ... It may be easier to share what I have tried. Hamburger, of course, many sandwiches, salad ... Steak, the crew had taken us to a Korean bar-be-que, where we roasted various meats over open flame. Very interesting. Several desserts, such as cake and iced cream -- I very much enjoy iced cream. I would like to visit the parlor to experience other flavors. I have been told they are plentiful. ”
