StinkyDofu's Sims n Stuff

Those of you who enjoy historical CC would have been disappointed to notice that Acanthus Sims recently deactivated their Patreon and by extension, any working link to their package files. It would be a real shame to lose a catalogue of such gorgeous and detailed Rococo era CC, so I've been working alongside my fellow historical simmers to archive Acanthus' catalogue. You can access the master folder containing all collections on Sim File Share here or Google Drive here, or you can pick and choose by collection under the cut.

I've gone through all my posts that use their items and redirected the links to the new archive, but please let me know if I've missed any. If you know of any creators that have recolours of any of Acanthus' work feel free to direct them either to this post or to the archive.

Carrying over from the late 1600s, the wig was the hairstyle de jour for men of the 18th century. For most of the 1700s either natural or white hair colour were favoured. White wigs were the most expensive and sought after, so powdering one's own hair became the fad to give the illusion of wealth. Fun fact: this is where the term "powder room" comes from, as powdering hair required a separate room to contain the mess. CC links and reference images under the cut.

Before I get started on today's post I have to give a HUGE shout out to @eggysimblr and his invaluable help when it came to research for the men's 1700s lookbooks. My strong suit is women's fashion history and in all honesty, I usually dread putting together the men's historical lookbooks as either the outfits are pretty repetitive or there is hardly any CC out there, or sometimes both. Thanks to all the amazing creators there was no shortage of men's CC this time and I had Eggy's wisdom to mine from. I suggest you check out his blog for some great historical content and CC.

Now, onto the lookbook...

The main stay of men's fashion throughout the 18th century was the en suite - an ensemble made from the matching separates of justaucorps (AKA coat), waistcoat and breeches. These three components varied in cut and fit over the course of 100 years. For the first part of the century justaucorps reached to just below the knee, with a wide flare at the sides. Cuffs were wide and heavily decorated. Waistcoats were similarly long, however they stopped above the knee. Although matching suits conveyed an air of propriety, outside of court and other formal occasions men often wore contrasting waistcoats. CC links under the cut.

✒️ Some animations just look... bad. There are a few solutions for this but I've chosen the simplest and most versatile - animation overrides! <insert magicky hand gestures here> Are you amazed? Yes, yes you are!

📦 Two overrides are currently available for female sims (and feminine sims if you give AXGW a spin when it releases). They replace two standing idles that suffer from the smile shown below when the sky is awake and the mood is Fine because holy !@#$, does that look bad:

I had a scroll through a few of your Tumblrs following the positive response I got for the BUGFIX, encountered the above post, inquired if it was still desired, et voila - a mod is born. More are planned, eg. male and masculine sim's stand idles are very bland. If I can find replacements, I will replace one or two of them. I could literally replace everything with the cute new Lovebug animation and have everyone just doing hand hearts for eternity <snickers sinisterly> but alas, maybe for my own game only.

⏳ P.S.: Don't expect too many more of these too soon. After AnimXGenWear's initial release, I want to override all of BG CAS. I was supposed to years ago. I intend to do it in stages because BG CAS is the largest. I'll tackle the worst offenders first, including all the things that need their Randomization removed. However, if you've noticed any vanilla animations that look like they deserve the "huzzah" treatment, take a pic and share it with me. I will take a look and see if I can find a replacement.

Kuroro Lucilfer inspired me in so many ways. In every KRKR fictions I have ever read described his eyes as Obsidian so...I named my blog Obsidian and also my blog's aesthetic. I fk love him😂😂

I wanted to make his hairstyle for so long and now I can make a new mesh myself.. finally my dream comes true hehehe.

I thought this hairstyle suck while I was meshing it. But after saw the result in CAS change my mind 😂 This hair is cute af. I love it and I think you guys might like it as well 😘

❝Forehead Height Slider❞

Consider this my 420 follower gift even tho I’m close to *** now

After my first attempt at a forehead slider failed miserably, I found a different way, even though it’s not perfect. Works best on hairs that don’t have bangs. If the hair has a shadow map on the forehead, it’ll get dragged down. 3D eyelashes and facial accessories don’t move with the slider, so you might want to use 2d lashes if the misplacement is noticeable.

Updated Default Replacement Skin Tones

It’s late,but I made default replacement skin tones compatible with Dec. 7th 2020 patch. (Compatible with 144 default colors and EP1 and EP7.) Files are separated by type of color because they are large (a ton of textures are in them…) Please make sure “Uncompressed Sim Textures” has been turned on. If it has not turned on,weird color may appear on the skin tone. You can download the files here.
