        a breath leaves dry lips as she watches the corners curve on beth’s. through everything, it’s amazing to see her smile; it’s like the light at the end of a tunnel. bright enough to make michonne forget about it all, even for a moment.

               “ do you think we’re gonna last out here? “

       blonde brows knot at michonne’s question ; pink lips piercing. beth will be hopeful until her last breath ( whenever that may be ) -- though not one of those breaths will be spent giving a single soul reason to call her foolish. once, the youngest greene thought it foolish to think she’d last more than a week in this world. now, she knows that’s a lie. with michonne, it was always, and always would be foolish to doubt that she’ll be anything other than one of the last standing.

judith giggles happily in her arms, burping when a porcelain hand pats her small back. hope is a difficult thing for all to keep a hold on, but it comes to beth like air itself. and when it doesn’t -- when her lungs reject the occasionally bitter air of faith-- one look at judith was enough to tell her beyond denial that life is still worth living... and that perhaps not every dream has been corrupted by the living dead.
