Chloe has learned a lot about herself during her tenure at Barden. 

She's learned that she is strong and capable, and that she can face the things that terrify her all on her own. She's learned how to speak up for herself and for others, and how to stand her ground. She's learned that there are people in this world who feel exactly the same way as she does about music and that it's okay to be afraid sometimes. She's learned what it is to be a good friend and now thinks she knows what a good friend should look like to her. She's figured out how to get puke stains out of a number of different types of material and that hurt and pain aren't always things that'll come out in the wash.

Beca’s crossing the doorway that leads up to the loft room she shares with Amy when she sees Chloe. She’s standing in the bathroom with the door open as she brushes her teeth and it’s her reflection that Beca catches in the mirror. There’s an instant where their eyes meet and the hand Chloe is using to maneuver the toothbrush from left to right stills, and they just stare at one another. They don’t say anything, they barely even blink, but Chloe is wearing the standard tank and shorts combo she always sleeps in and Beca’s neck starts getting hot underneath the hood of Jesse’s sweatshirt. It’s too big for her, but it’s comfy and she’d had to throw something on over her jeans before venturing downstairs in search of whatever it was she’d told him she was going to look for. 

She can’t remember, not in that moment. Not while Chloe’s gaze is so heavy on her, pinning her to the spot and making her feel like she’s in the direct path of a lava flow. Frozen but on fire at the same time, until Chloe leans down to spit the toothpaste into the sink and breaks eye contact, allowing Beca to regain her motor functions and continue on her way downstairs.
